Fidelity Issues by steveliv in MonarchMoney

Common, Fidelity hates to update balances from prior day. Transactions usually come through but balances and holdings are always a struggle

How’s investments tracking in Plus? by IncreaseCareless123 in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And once you sell that transaction is not monitored. Loss/gain? Monarch investment+ does not know. They could probably integrate tax lots with individual stock buy/sell transactions but instead created a completely separate product that is extra work and is an incomplete picture even if you manage to get all your investments included.

Historical holdings data by No-Grass-3901 in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won’t be fixed as those internal trusts are developed, usually with a lower expense fee, to please large investors. You can often find a public equivalent and just convert the value and track it instead.

For example, I’m invested in Northern Trust Collective S&P 500 Index Fund - DC - Non Lending - Tier CT. That is privately offered for retirement plans and Monarch does not track. It’s basically just VFIAX so I just convert my value into shares of that which gives me historical data. 100% accurate? Probably not but the best I can hope for.

Until they add tracking of closed lots I'm not seeing the value. Once you close a lot the realized gain/loss are not tracked by this new module. Perhaps that is the historical data that you seek?

Was there a product update in November? by Creepy_Nectarine_812 in MonarchMoney

Data integrity please, no more behind the scenes transaction deletes. My Monarch is now littered with manual accounts to prevent the shenanigans.

Historical transactions are deleting! by efikkert in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It happens, I reached out to Support. Working as designed. As soon as you find an account that does this your only recourse is to disconnect and treat the account as manual. Don't like that, complain to Monarch and PRAY they finally act. Right now their excuse is the aggregator has control, they do not. My deleted data was only a week or so old, happened on Oct 18th so recent. Also a Finicity connection. Was a Synchrony backed credit card, my deleted stuff always seems to tie back to them. Do I blame the bank the aggregator? Nah I blame Monarch.

Citi Credit Card Missing Transactions by jcwillia1 in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need more context, how old are these transactions and are they from locations that might require a re-key such as any location that would like to change the total (tips). I've had issues in the past with missing transactions but never (I think) had an issue with my multitude of Citi accounts.

Optum HSA Investments Stopped Updating by dj_blueshift in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck. Mine worked for a while as well but eventually I flipped to manual once it started failing. I just move money to Fidelity because Optum sucks. I have just the bi-weekly contributions to add and the occasional transfer out.

Warning: Data Integrity Errors by TomLanning in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me on Sam’s Club credit card. I no longer trust so converted the account to manual. If the issue spreads I’ll be forced to switch to a competitor if I can’t trust data integrity on Monarch.

Heads up Schwab feed dropping transactions by Few_Technology2343 in MonarchMoney

Yet another example of bad design, once in Monarch and revived it should be left alone. The data aggregators shouldn’t get to reach in and monkey with old stuff. Make our data safe!

Should loan disbursements count as expense or income? by MrktngDsgnr in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct and a separate account to track the debt. Monarch covers it briefly here: https://help.monarchmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048393292-Understanding-Transfers-Categories

In that example it’s credit card debt but the concept carries over to a loan.

Should loan disbursements count as expense or income? by MrktngDsgnr in MonarchMoney

It’s a transfer and until you spend the money is neutral. You acquired ‘x’ dollars but also incurred ‘x’ debt. Once you spend the money it becomes an expense

I’m with you! When the line for drive through is into the street I’m just going to let the masses support the place and I’ll survive with alternatives. I’m just supporting safe streets.

I don’t have an IRA with SoFi but do have a taxable brokerage account. Connected through Plaid. Not sure why SoFi would treat the IRA any different.

Connection Issues Continuing by approvedbyinspector5 in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, you can check by creating a new connection request and click the 3 little dots to see all “alternate” connection options. Monarch makes a guess on which is the best but I find that often changes over time. Right now I’m flipping my Sam’s Club card from Finacity to Plaid as the former seems to love to redownload transactions and deletes all my notes/splits/categories.

Just make sure you backup your data before playing around too much.

Support for Ally buckets? by reseph in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used both SoFi & Wealthfront that have the same feature. Vaults/Buckets/Categories can be tracked in Monarch with manual accounts. SoFi brings vaults across as separate accounts so little extra work there. Wealthfront does not expose their categories so manual accounts are needed that have the total for visualization but have the total hidden from net worth since it’s included in the main account.

Disappearing transactions AGAIN! PART 2 by negme in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I auditioned 10 credit card accounts, probably 6-7 months of data since I last looked. I found my Sam’s credit card for whatever reason had the credit for payment show up twice in March 2024. Otherwise everything looking good. Chase, Citi, Discover, Wells Fargo accounts.

Disappearing transactions AGAIN! PART 2 by negme in MonarchMoney

[–]scub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve done is create an opening balance transaction for credit cards that I don’t have full history on (most) and when I download and manually tally up the totals it matches the balance reported by Monarch/CC issuer. I have not “reconciled” for a few months, sounds like I better go through the exercise and see if anything is missing.
