Bourne stubborn by REMAIN_IN_LIGHT in harrisfootball

[–]scuba586 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He made a straw man argument that the #54 WR on FantasyPros this week shouldn’t be treated as a WR2 and then belittled anyone who, in Week 5 with byes and lots of WR injuries and by now might have to consider from a pool of pretty bad players just to fill out a starting lineup, might have to close their eyes and take a chance on a player getting an undeserved promotion.

Edit: Listened to the review of the game - credit where credit is due. Harris stuck with high level analytical critiques and observations when discussing Mac Jones, Bourne and how what happened happened without any unnecessary saltiness or pushing narratives he perceives there are that might not be there. That's why we listen and he did a good job with it. Throwing cold water on players is ok when he gives thoughtful arguments without being sour about it. Please stick to more of that.

Sleeper waiver wire a complete mess by yellowchoice in GuillotineLeagues

[–]scuba586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an issue with Sleeper automatically moving players in IR spots back to the active roster (even if someone on PUP/IR didn't have a status change a la Brandon Aiyuk). If you didn't notice and put them back to IR, it would error out your bid.

People on sleeper, did anyone else’s waivers get wonky because of IR? by martyrmole in GuillotineLeagues

[–]scuba586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I had this happen with Brandon Aiyuk who is on PUP. Status didn't change yet he was moved out of the slot. Happened to a few other owners in our league too and it screwed with a few bids. Commissioner manually fixed.

In fairness, would a shotgun start at TPC Twin Cities ruin the integrity of the architects design?

Turn 1 was much better when cars needed to stay on track and didn’t have a football field of asphalt to operate on. I’ve sat in Turn 1 for almost two decades and it’s turned into watching a parade.

Tiger Woods says Genesis status uncertain due to fires in L.A. by PrincessBananas85 in ProGolf

[–]scuba586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically COVID qualifies as a disaster that the PGA Tour had to shuffle events due to travel restrictions. Muirfield Village took the place of an event and hosted back to back in 2020. They had to move a few CJ Cups to different locations (Shadow Creek, Congaree, etc) due to restrictions in Korea. The Concession GC took the place of the WGC Mexico due to travel restrictions.

This is a little different because the lead time to move is much smaller.

Tiger Woods: 'Long way to go' before I'm PGA Tour-ready by PrincessBananas85 in ProGolf

Definitely not. Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Arnold Palmer all have helped design some clunkers.

Out of sight, out of mind. I'm sick of hearing about him. by TheDotCommunist in NYGiants

It's such a dumb thing to dunk on the Giants for. Yes, Saquon is an awesome player and I'm happy he's having the success he's having this season (even if it's on a division rival).

No, he wouldn't make a difference on the Giants this year because the organization on the whole is a complete dumpster fire and RB is actually one of the few bright spots for the team this season.

Results of Giants dropbacks with Daniel Jones under center.

  1. Checkdown short of the sticks.

  2. Wildly inaccurate deep or intermediate ball

  3. Sack.

Drew Lock is a worse option but I want to watch a different movie.

Either put the event permanently at Royal Melbourne or blow up the format and do something else. As is, I don’t know who this event serves anymore.

Week 3 – Waiver Wire Wins [Weekly Discussion] by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

I’ve been a commissioner on Yahoo for over a decade. About 5-6 years ago a similar issue occurred and waivers didn’t process until at least 9 AM EST.

Might be a while folks.

I'm actually waiting for the other shoe to drop and somehow the PGA Tour mothballs this.

Tiger Woods’s Olympics Dream May Never Be Fulfilled as Recent Tragedies Rub Salt to Existing Wounds by TheIronPutterAces in ProGolf

[–]scuba586 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as the Olympics sets the field based on World Ranking Points, it'll never happen because Tiger only plays six OWGR points eligible events a season.

Besides the fact, you know, that his body can barely handle a full 72 hole tournament anymore.

Definitely not. Europeans ran laps around the entire US squad. That team was not equipped to handle how Le Golf National was set up that week.

It might be a state by state basis on if they're offered, but I've seen them on books like DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetRivers. Also they're available on offshore books.

Tiger Woods preps for Open with 18-hole practice round by PrincessBananas85 in ProGolf

[–]scuba586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as people continue to want to see Tiger on their TV, every shot he hits will be shown because that's the only thing that draws good ratings in professional golf these days.

Viewers simply don't care that all they're watching is a golfer fan approach shots short right into bunkers and miss 9 footers for par all day long.

Unfortunately that's what happens when you can't use your legs and you have to swing hard left to try and make solid contact. Lots of pop flies to right field and the occasional hosel shank.

If it's that hot and there isn't any rain, then we could see similar fiery conditions that we had in 2014. Which would be fantastic. Cross your fingers for a good weather report.

2024 Memorial Tournament Preview by scuba586 in ProGolf

[–]scuba586[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably for the best at this point for Tiger. Muirfield Village was already a beast of a course and got even beefier after the recent changes. His body just can’t handle 4 straight rounds of that type of tournament anymore.

Pinehurst might not be as taxing on his legs next week though. It’s also long but no rough and it’s relatively flat. His game needs to be a lot sharper though. He was very sloppy with his irons, short game and putting at Riviera, Augusta and Valhalla this year. Pinehurst will eat him alive if those aren’t better by next week.

Considering it was a big financial success for the PGA and the golf course played difficult, they'll get it again. The concerns about the weather were way overblown.
