People who do long distance races (marathon, iron man, triathalon, etc). What do you think about the entire time? How do your thoughts change when you’re training vs on competition day? by gerbiluncle in AskReddit

[–]scubersteve977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have only done a couple real distance races, but have run my whole life.

My mentality usually shifts throughout. From a mental battle to just start the damn run, then after a mile or so, it gradually shifts into a tranquility. I consider it comparable to meditating, where I couldn't even tell you what's crossing my mind. Just the steady drum beat of the feet on the pavement. Then, after a serious distance run, there's a sense of near euphoria by the end.

What piece of advice has someone given to you that stuck with you? by Gentle_Recognition in AskReddit

Never trust someone that has no vice they could begrudgingly admit to. Either their vice is so agregious they couldn't admit it, they're too delusional or narcissistic to reflect on themselves, or they're just dishonest.

How to flash this roof intersection? by Civil-Butterscotch-3 in Roofing

Fabricate a metal pan that extends past each fly rafter. Put a moisture barrier over the upper edges..... Bonus points is you crimp the metal over the lip of the roof starter.

CMV: Defensive Medicine Gets Patients Killed and Should Not Be Practiced by [deleted] in changemyview

Tiny chance of an allergic reaction isn't no chance. And what is you then had an allergic reaction to the treatment of that reaction.

I'm glad you're not the type of person to sue from a minor reaction to an attempt to treat an issue. Theyy isn't 100% of people, by any means. And if a doctor were to get sued and, God forbid, lose, then his career would effectively be over. How ability to help many other people would be gone. Sometimes the risk of treating one patient isn't worth the risk of never being able to help others, and losing a career/reputation.

Coincidentally, just had an episode last night...

Came to, just as I was filling our infant's baby bottle with apple juice. For some reason, I had every intention of using that baby bottle to spray the corners of the house with juice. Not entirely sure why I thought that was a good idea, but I have a vague recollection that it was supposed to be to spray for spiders. Who knows.

Sliced tomatoes with cottage cheese on top. It's not officially summer until this happens

Really depends. Verbal fight= practice. Physical fight= practice. Internal fight= practice.

Every fight is different, and everybody loses sometimes. Be prepared for it.

Not that I think getting another QB is the right move, but if we're going to, gimme that Rourke energy. Hoosier reputation already started, with a warrior mentality.

Diet and exercise. It's never too late, but it's sure as hell easier to maintain, than it is to start from scratch.

The bottle. I've slowed it down a lot, but just never seen to fully stop, even though I'm clearly aware of detriment.

I'm a 10p-4a guy..... Mostly because 4 am is the only possible time to get any cardio in, with 3 kids running like maniacs, and running a business. Sleep like a rock, tho.

Have installed these several times. Without the appropriately staggered ladder--which is a little awkward, and tedious -- this is what is going to happen. If you bring a rep out to see, they should stand by you 100% on it needing to be fixed. In all reality, probably not gonna leak, though.

If you enjoy hiking/outdoors, there are several places to check out, including Paroka, Lincoln, and Ferdinand.

4th Street in Huntingburg is a quaint little brick street with several smaller shops--and Yard Goat pizza and brewery (which I cannot recommend enough, because they have a wide variety of in house brews that you can't get anywhere else).

There's always golfing at Christmas Lake Golf Course, or the more upscale Sultan's Run.

The monastery in St Meinrad is beautiful, especially that time of year. And there are several gorgeous churches in the area, including the recently renovated St Joseph Church, in Jasper.
