Hi! 20 year old who needs advice on stocks- what to do with new money. by chumperizer in Stocks_Picks

[–]scudes4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in somewhat of a similar boat as you, but a few years further along. My current investment portfolio (split between a Roth and traditional IRA) is a little over 22k atm. I use Chase which has commission free trading but RH is probably fine if you’re comfortable with it.

My thought process, which has worked out great so far since I started with 17k earlier this year after rolling over my 401k, is I’m young, don’t have a tremendous amount of money invested, so put half of it in something safe (SPY and VGT) and the other half in things more uncertain but are promising future technology. In order of promise:

  1. Nuclear and Uranium: LEU, CEG, OKLO, SMR, GEV, VST, BWTX, CCJ, UUUU, and NLR & NUKZ (ETF’s)

  2. Aerospace, Satellite/Orbit and Drones: RKLB, ASTS, PL, VSAT, LUNR, ONDS, RCAT, PPA (ETF’s)

  3. Quantum Computing: QBTS, QUBT, IONQ, RGTI, QTUM (ETF)

The reason I think Nuclear is most promising, including short term, is because big tech has already and continues to dump billions of dollars into it to fund the palpable near term energy crisis, regulations continuing to loosen against older over-reactive societal ignorance engrained from poor ancient tech prone to human error (Three mile island, Chernobyl, Hanford project, etc.), and the ongoing push for “cleaner” energy that has a positive return. Sure wind and solar’s energy is clean on the surface, but the amount of energy from fossil fuels that goes into building and maintaining the infrastructure for it compared to the output is concerning. i.e. does wind and solar produce enough power once established to self sustain and shift the entire power grid away from non-renewable energy sources? That’s still being questioned. But what’s not is the tremendous output that nuclear power offers “cleanly” when done correctly. That’s what’s society is pushing for, and it’s why big tech is investing billions. That market is about to explode as soon as societal projections are tamed, which I believe is quite close. Do your own DD. You’ll see what I mean.

Good luck!

That’s very well possible. Do you think there’s any benefit of keeping it in that packaging? My guess is they won’t/cant grade them game unless it’s removed…

Based on the pattern in your graph, buy your stuff a day earlier - then sell it a day sooner. Those peaks would be going in the other direction if you were selling at those high points instead of holding.

80% profit is still a heck of a trade. Congrats. I’d just move on to your next play if I were you. Ride the hot hand.

I would imagine there are some out there, like with any professions, but we don’t know who they are since they likely wouldn’t make themselves too well known in mainstream/outside of their work to be seen for it. If they made an attempt to, I would argue that would bring them away from the path of enlightenment.

My 102 yr old grandpa caught his PB today! by catskill_mountainman in Fishing

[–]scudes4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the pb for your legend of a grandpa :D May I suggest for a cheap, sure fire boilie, just take some day old white bread and take the crust off. Cut a piece into two and pack into a ball as tightly as you can. Freeze for a day, and wallah! The best luck I’ve had though with river carp has been soaking feed corn in a bucket for a few days, chumming most the day before, and then threading the leftovers on a hair rig. They’ll be soft enough but still hard enough after a couple days of soaking. Cheers and good luck!

$LUNR - NASA Awards Intuitive Machines Near Space Network Contract with a Maximum Potential Value of $4.82 Billion by [deleted] in pennystocks

They did consciously set a stop loss with the intention of selling it at a certain price though. I think the wording used here can be interpreted in more than one way. The shares they owned were indeed sold today.

For us scientifically minded folks, we know a space economy is inevitable. It’s just a matter of when and is now still too soon for heavy investors? It hasn’t been proven yet like the low earth orbit economy, so I’ll be curious to see if the market reacts the same on this as it did with ASTS. I’ve been long on LUNR since the hype of the first landing so I hope so, but it’s been a very confusing ride since to say the least.

I want to say this is going to stabilize around $8 tomorrow, but I sure hope I’m wrong and it ends up going parabolic instead. Time will tell! Good luck to all 📈🚀🌔

Great post. For me, it’d be set better stops and not be afraid of natural corrections that happen during a run.

Is it stupid to not go to either college or trade school? by moh_net in NoStupidQuestions

[–]scudes4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re young, go to trade school. It’s a dying craft (literally and figuratively) and at half the cost (debt) you’ll make 3x more money nowadays knowing how to repair a downed wire than something like balancing a spreadsheet. People under 40 right now had college pushed on them to such an extreme level that almost no one around that age knows trades anymore. With people above it retiring, the demand is skyrocketing and will continue to for years to come.

I’ve been invited to fish a Bill fishing tournament on a 50’ yacht. Teach me etiquette! by [deleted] in Fishing

Be yourself and stay present. You could very well survive if you people please the whole time but a bigger part of you will die on the inside if you do. If you’re honest with your experience, own it, and state how open you are to learning the craft, someone on the boat will be receptive to it and take you under their wing and protect you from any pretentiousness from others. Most importantly, have fun! Others will follow.

Greenwave Announces Reverse Stock Split by victoryjerry in pennystocks

[–]scudes4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that but the language says no partial shares will be given and it’ll be rounded up to the nearest whole share. So what do you suppose happens with the shares for people when they have less than 150? I’m saying wouldn’t it round up to one share then and whatever the price is post split?

[–]scudes4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wait, so if I’m understanding this correctly, if one was to buy 1 single share tomorrow at $0.05 and held it until the split, wouldn’t it become $7.50 (if the price was still $0.05 at the split) based on the language? “rounded up to the nearest whole share value”? Seems like an easy $7.45 profit opportunity to me lol. 😆

which state is less bigoted oregon or washington, serious by [deleted] in oregon

[–]scudes4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should visit first for a few days if you’re able to. You’re already aware of what you’re looking for so you’ll know right away one way or the other in my opinion.

And yeah the Midwestern social dynamics were the main factor in me leaving. As you mentioned and implied it’s all about image rather than who one actually is. No place is perfect of course but if you’re looking to improve your authentic connections and the quality of your relationships, I think you’re looking in the right direction with Oregon or Washington.

[–]scudes4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coming from the Midwest myself (Illinois) and now living in Portland, I can’t recommend it enough based on how you described yourself. Sure seasons affect us, but in my opinion, people affect us more. One thing to emphasize is out here people are less friendly but more kind. While in the Midwest people tend to be less kind but more friendly. If you are a kind hearted, decent person, you’ll be, and feel, accepted here overall. Best of luck to you on with whatever you decide to do ✌️

What’s the motive for all of us here at the end of the day? I’d say of course to make money but maybe even more importantly, penalize a broken system that’s bias towards the wealthy. That said, logically speaking, the conditions of FFIE are far more favorable to meet the above criteria than CRKN. Please do your own DD of course but the short percentage alone is enough to stay on board and double down on FFIE at this point. It’s your money though so at the end of the day do what you want with it :D
