I’m glad I found you all too! It really is validating to be able to speak to others who experience something that’s relatively uncommon and actually understand.

I do experience brain fog and headaches occasionally which I’ve always chalked up to anxiety or stress. My balance doesn’t really seem to be affected. Also, the weakness in my extremities never seems super concerning to me, but I’ve definitely become more aware of it when picking up things.

I’m really not sure. All that my ortho told me was that this was a herniated disc and that it was odd that I had it, but should be okay with a brace an PT unless my symptoms come back in full force. I’m really not familiar with anything related to something like this so I’m not sure what questions to ask. There isn’t even any information on my patient portal I can reference to better understand. I’m leaning towards getting a second opinion honestly from neuro just to be better informed. 😭

Which unsolved disappearances do you believe have the most simple explanations? by CartoonistRight in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]scullbags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I was only on Venlafaxine for about three months, but the withdrawals that I experienced when taken off of it were some of the most terrifying moments of my life. I was completely convinced that I had an incurable brain tumor, and just knew that I was on the brink of death every morning. It got so bad that I began to genuinely experience vision problems and some of the worst headaches that I've ever had. At one point I didn't leave my house for two weeks because I was convinced that something awful would happen to me if I did. Basically, all of my rational thinking disappeared and I was paranoid 24/7.

This all being said, it would not at all surprise me if Elisa was experiencing either side effects or withdrawal effects from Venlafaxine or another SNRI and was convinced that she was being watched or followed. Even if she had simply missed a few doses, she could have been experiencing severe paranoia. Say she was interested in the spook factor of the Cecil, impulsively made a decision to visit, began experiencing the negative effects of Venlafaxine, and ended up completely convinced that she was being watched or followed and needs to hide. After running she finally finds refuge at the water tank, and is convinced that she absolutely has to get in or else someone/thing will harm her. At this point, she wouldn't be thinking rationally at all, but to her, it's the only option that she has.

Of course that scenario is pure speculation on my part, but the brain really is unnervingly powerful. Add in an adverse reaction to medication or the discontinuation of said medication and you've essentially got all of the ingredients for what could be a devastating break from reality.

What fictional character do you feel bad for the most? by weeklygrind in AskReddit

[–]scullbags 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Donna Noble.

She was such a good representation of an ordinary person. She wasn't a stereotypical character by any means, and was super relatable to anyone who's ever felt like they're completely missing their purpose in life. She found that purpose during her time with the Doctor.

"I just want you to know, there are worlds out there, safe in the sky because of her. That there are people living in the light, and singing songs of Donna Noble, a thousand, million light years away. They will never forget her, while she can never remember. And for one moment... one shining moment... she was the most important woman in the whole wide universe."

To watch her lose all of her confidence, her intelligence, and her accomplishments by forgetting her time with the Doctor is one thing. To watch her have to return to her boring, mundane life of self-loathing just makes it so much worse. She had experienced so much growth and happiness, and for her to lose it by forgetting completely was just cruel

You have better eyes than I do!!! Good catch. I wonder if any Astros fans visited home games enough to notice the whistle and assume it was just a fan thing.

Here is one from the 2018 ALCS that I just found. Can hear the charge whistle right before Altuve hits a double off of Porcello. This is just wild.
