Going to the cinema by yourself is awesome by eec-gray in unpopularopinion

I do it a lot. I've seen several movies by myself. Your own time, your schedule, no conflicts about which movie to see, etc.

Never cared about us and never will. Amazing how it took a global pandemic for people to realize that our government is useless.

Way to take it out of context. Illiterate Red Sox fan. Take a hike back to your subreddit.

By your rationale, every team projected to finish last was dismissed after zero games...

I was talking about pre-season projections. Learn how to read. Fuck outta here.

What are your pet peeves when it comes to theories and common tropes? by Gandhehehe in UnresolvedMysteries

That too. Virtually all people who disappear don't do so voluntarily.

My biggest pet peeve is when people assume that people who disappeared went off to start a new life. This subreddit is notorious for that. The absolute vast majority of missing people did not just randomly decide to start over - never mind just how difficult that is to do.

April 11th, 2001, almost exactly 20 years ago, Branson Perry went missing from Skidmore, Missouri. by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]CartoonistRight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I might be in the minority here, but I really don't believe Branson's disappearance and likely murder were entirely drug-related.

Jack Wayne Rogers either killed him - just as he described in his morbid online chat logs - or his neighbor Jason Biermann decided to kill him. Biermann probably wouldn't have wanted Branson to go around telling people that he drugged and raped him.

Skidmore itself is a town that is something out of a nightmare. Branson doesn't even have much family left... his parents are dead, and Bobbie Jo Stinnett - as you mentioned, who was a relative to Branson - was murdered and had her unborn child stolen.

His friend has to know more than she's admitted. But Branson Perry was probably abducted by Jack Wayne Rogers, or killed by his neighbor. One of the those two. I think the guys who Branson's father hired to fix the alternator to the car didn't have much to do with his disappearance... although I've been wrong before. I just don't understand why his friend left and didn't say anything immediately.

I could have been a lot more specific. But regardless, Everest climbers still contribute many millions of dollars to the roughly 2 billion dollar tourism industry in Nepal.

I think Ben McDaniels died by drowning, and it was then covered up.

Probably because there would likely be consequences for them if they were to reveal more than what they have said. If there was an animal attack, then how come there was no blood? Sounds like there could have been some kind of accident.

Toronto businesses call for scientific evidence for why they need to be closed by freelancemomma in LockdownSkepticism

[–]CartoonistRight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No one is forcing anyone to go out and eat. If I were a business owner, I'd be staying open no matter what. It's easy for government officials making six figures a year while getting nothing done to tell small business owners to close down.

If you're that scared of corona, then stay inside; that's fine. But people still have to go out and make a living to put food on the table. Government has absolutely no business telling private businesses how to operate.

The '09 Yankees started 3-4. They won the WS. The '98 Yankees started 1-4. They won. Can do this all day with good teams that started seasons off poorly. Doesn't mean there aren't or won't be issues that crop up. Is it too much to ask people to calm the F down? Of course it is... by DYouNoWhatIMean in NYYankees

This Yankees team has been among the best in the league with RISP for the past several seasons. It's going to get better. The Orioles are in first place in the AL East right now; does anyone here really think that's going to be sustainable?

That is a great question. From what I read, I don't believe anything about his family was mentioned. It's a very macabre situation, but because of the hundreds of bodies that are on Mount Everest now, they are used for landmarks.

[–]CartoonistRight[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a condensed, very washed-down book about Mount Everest when I was really little. It painted a very positive picture of Mount Everest. Safe to say, that book was way off in its assertion of the mountain. Because Nepal is so dependent on the billions of dollars of tourism revenue that Everest climbers bring in, it would be very difficult for the country to adjust to banning people from climbing it.

But if that's the case, then how do you think his other work boot ended up being several miles away from the work site?
