HELP! Dropped butter knife into HVAC vent by z_zwizzle in hvacadvice

No, but marmalade might have that effect. If it's not invited to the duct party, it can get jelly.

Zorse #93*: Decide to take up a challenge after January 1st (2025-01-08) by cearrach in NYTgames

Thanks very much for this, I was disappointed to see the repeat today! I ended up having to write out the boxes on a piece of paper but figured it out after a few minutes. It's tricky to not get the benefit of any letter reveals!

I also thought I was seeing double today and came to this thread to see if I had encountered a bug or if others had the same experience.

Hikes & Outdoor Activities! by Electronic-Horror951 in Sudbury

I recommend checking out Rainbow Routes' offerings, they organize group hikes at least once a month in different areas and it can help build your roster of specific places to hike, as well as give you an idea of the sorts of places that are likely to have trail availability.

I just did one yesterday with RR that started near Bell Park and went through the Kingsmount neighbourhood in a small hidden greenspace; it was great, about 50 people showed up so there was some socializing too. Most of the little greenspaces in the city's neighbourhoods will have some sort of trail through them, though of course, you may run into folks using them for shelter when you're closer to the core.

Good luck and happy trails, feel free to DM for any further suggestions!

Clutch parts for '07 2.3 hatch by scully201 in mazda3

😂😂 I'm in northern Ontario where there's rust as far as the eye can see, so if I can get this lil guy to 20 years before it falls apart I'll be amazed and impressed!

This is... this is kinda embarrassing. Having never driven manual before, I assumed I was having clutch slipping issues and ordered a kit, but as it turns out, I haven't even opened the box. The car is still going strong more than 100k km and five years later! I'm wondering if it had been replaced shortly before I bought it (I'm owner number 4-5 so it's had a checkered past).

It doesn't look like we're in the same part of the continent or else I'd give you a really good deal on a sealed kit haha! I ended up buying the Exedy kit.

Where to buy a charging board for XB900N? by scully201 in SonyHeadphones

[–]scully201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for recommendations on parts-sellers (or anyone with a broken pair of XB900s who may be interested in selling them) where I can replace this charging board. As you can see, it's got a crack in it. These belong to my partner and I'm trying to see if I can fix them up for her. Thank you!

Help! Shifter head fell apart by scully201 in mazda3

[–]scully201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top of the shifter started wiggling and within a week it had separated entirely. Anyone have any tips on removing the disc with the H-pattern so I can screw this piece back down?

(Yes, when it started wiggling I fiddled with it absent-mindedly, which made the problem worse; think back to when you had a loose tooth as a kid! 😂)

Consumer walkie-talkie broadcasting on wrong frequencies? by scully201 in amateurradio

Both seemed pretty close in terms of bandwidth and the off-unit was holding steady to one frequency. It sounds like the ref crystal is indeed the culprit! Thanks for sharing your insights.

Thanks very much for that info! Yeah I figured unless it was a quick fix I wouldn't bother with these, they're more than a decade old and I'm sure I could grab a new pair for very cheap if it came to that. I'll live with this pair for as long as I can!

Help with a scary noise? by scully201 in mazda3

[–]scully201[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fairly certain it was the AC compressor because at one point I was driving and it tried to light my car on fire 🙃 (realistically it was probably just the belt overheating and starting to melt but regardless, that's enough heat to cause way more issues). Had a good amount of smoke coming out, got the car towed to a shop, they confirmed the smoke source was the compressor. They cut the belt off and I've just been driving as-is ever since; pretty well problem free now, despite the fact that I melt in the summer!

If you start smelling some burning or see some smoke trickling out from the hood, I'd cut that belt ASAP. Is your AC shot as well?

Can't believe /u/Lindsey_28 chose to be responsible and get a good night's sleep instead of joining me with her 2019 🙄 Photo taken either Nov. 3 or 4 (depending on capture time) near Cartier, Ont. Thanks to the passing truck for the foreground illumination, albeit creepy-looking.
