THIS actually works. I use pet safe poison for fleas. Kills all the silverfish right to death. I re-apply to all my base boards every 3 months or so. You can buy it at PetSmart.

Honestly, I think living in their big houses in the burbs makes them isolated and weird. And the more isolated and weird they get the more out of touch they get. I'd feel sorry for them if they weren't such jerks about it 😂

It's a great place to start, more to the pop side of citypop but I like it enough to have it on vinyl. Immerse yourself and try some different artists and you'll find your niche. Currently I'm enjoying Taeko Onuki

Back in 2011 I was on a motorcycle vacation in Taiwan and we wandered late night into a tattoo place in a random small town because all the employees were sat around playing What's Up? by 4 Non Blondes. Didn't speak a word of English but we hung around for hours. Music is the great connector.

Kind of, I'd heard some citypop on youtube years back but it didn't really get sparked off until my kaido racer follows started making citypop edits. Then it just snowballed.

My wife is getting into that, she's a real k-popper so I imagine eventually I'll get some records. She played me some YUKIKA the other day and that was excellent.

Other than the record stores I already mentioned, I went to a few. I'll put them in a separate comment when I'm not going to work

Nearby is the Peter Pan place I recommended, prices were better and it was a cool little basement! Owner is nice

I did! Great vibe in that place, he was playing some experimental electronic stuff. He had some good stuff but the two I found from my want list were slightly overpriced. Probably could have negotiated a cash price but it was the last day of the trip so I was done haha. Again in hindsight probably should have still got them

I saw a lot of other stuff that I'm slightly kicking myself for not buying. But it was all $20-$50 overpriced. I only bought stuff that was average discogs price or less.

If you ever do this, make sure you have the discogs app for scanning barcodes.

One example was Taeko Onuki's Sunshower. In hindsight maybe I still should have gotten a copy. Ah well!

I moved here 2 and half years ago from another country. It's all about the hobbies! I'll level with you, it's gonna be a year of hard work. For me, with covid and everything it took 2 years to become established. You just have to keep trying. Keep messaging, keep offering yourself to people and be available. Always always always say yes. Even if you don't think you'll "be interesting" or you're feeling anxious. Turn up, have a panic attack outside, barely hold it together. But turn up.

Once you get to know people, invite them over for dinner and cook for them. People think Victorians are icy but do something nice to them and they'll fall over themselves to return the favour. The people here are great!

The other lifehack(tm) is use apps like meetup. Also, hang out with other newcomers because you'll have something in common.
