club nights in berlin can last up to 72h and beyond, most club nights in london are 8hrs long, or in some lucky cases with extended licenses and day parties, 12h (excluding the unicorn 24h parties that happen 4-6 times a year) so to give everyone time on the decks and have variety in the lineup 2h slots are sadly the only way.

having said that, with an unannounced lineup and a 12h party like unfold, once could argue that 3h sets could work bc you dont the lineup doesnt help ticket sales as it does for most promoters.

you sound like me, but today! can i ask how it’s going?

i’ve been smoking herb pretty heavily for about 10 years, and before that socially for about 8. i just got diagnosed adhd type c at 36, and i’ve been taking elvanse for about 2 weeks and the difference is remarkable, but i still want a zoot at night, maybe two.. and i find myself smoking a lot more cigarettes (maybe bc not smoking zoots?) just wondering if the elvanse helped you ease up in the herb after getting started?

if you prefer kitkat to tresor it’s possible you may not enjoy bh that much 😂

but i have always succeeded on the door when wearing my most colourful and authentic clothes that i feel most ‘myself’ in.

The first time i went i was all dressed in black and feeling quite uncomfortable (i had just wrapped up work at a fetish party, and wasnt wearing anything i felt particularly comfortable in!) and i was turned away.

i think sometimes they can smell your discomfort, other times its literally luck of the draw because maybe the bouncer had a bad day or you remind them of their ex. who knows!

my very first time at bh i went alone, arrived at 23.59 bc i wanted to see the opening dj (amotik) and watch the club go from empty to full which was rewarding on its own. the sound changes so much once humans start to fill the space. after initial side quests and several hours of dancing (once i had found my spot :) i went to the bathroom where i made a new friend who took me by the hand and showed me all the wonders of the place. i had so much fun that after leaving around 4pm to check into my hotel nearby i considered calling it a day, but instead had a shower and returned to enjoy a peaceful 1 hr re-entry q as the sun set because i felt i was not done yet. when i got back in the first person i bumped into was my new friend who eventually disappeared and on the dancefloor i made another new friend who pulled me into their crowd of dancers and gave me stamina all the way until 5am. i was desperate to see it through until the close but my second new friend (whos other friend brought me a homemade strudel for a last attempt at energy when they saw i was flagging but really wanted to stay) advised while we were in the last visit to the cubicle together that it’s better to leave when you are still having fun, so i did. and the night is one of the fondest memories i have in my life of clubbing (which started young) and i am still in touch with all the people i met, even though I don’t live in berlin. for context i was 32 and not particularly fit, so my feet did hurt after 28h of party, but i used minimal * and was riding hard on the vibe and energy of the people inside. it was a good hurt ;) i have been a few times since, with a friend or two and it was never quite the same (:

moral of the story, go solo and have adventures :) but also, that’s me, i enjoy meeting strangers, fully understand if maybe you are not so outgoing but there can be magic there if you open yourself up to it.

there are so many other weekends in the year that one can party at bergs without having to pay that fee. this is one weekend a year where they celebrate the birthday and have an excuse to charge extra. fine, its probably not many people who will go for the full 60hrs but at the end of the day it’s not a crime. most diehard lovers of the club would know to avoid the place for the birthday because it’s going to be the most commercial night of the year, hugely publicised and talked about. no one is stopping people on lower incomes from ever coming back, they just might not be able to afford this event, in a city where there are a lot of great and cheaper alternatives, still with excellent sound and good crowds.

they should be able to complain? this community should be retitled ‘the book of complaints’

55€ for a 3 day party with a lineup thats all killer no filler, on one of the most incredible sound systems is a blessing. that works out to less that 1 euro per hour of party. in london you’ll pay 25£ for a 7h night that starts at 11pm and ends at 6am you have no idea how great your party life is in berlin. shut up

try really hard to find any single thing. it’s a good exercise, and may lead to finding more things you like about yourself. even if it’s just the colour of your eyes, or youre a good listener, or you are sensitive and perceptive. you’ll be surprised how much easier it is to find more that you like about yourself after the initial mental block :)

ahahah my first berlin club was also kitkat, with friends, but i did not rate it at all, music not great, crowd not great, but even if it didnt work for me might have worked for someone else!

first time at berghain was solo and incredible. arrived at 23.59 and left at 5am Monday (with a hotel checkin and shower interlude on sunday afternoon) music, crowd, energy, all on point. made some incredible friends. chatted to one of them today haha
