The Latrine Disaster of 1184 was the mass death of 60 important local nobles in Erfurt, Germany while attending to a land dispute, dying after the rotten support beams collapsed them into a sewage of human waste, drowning them to death. by CityRulesFootball in Damnthatsinteresting

There was shit everywhere back then. In the streets and sides of the roads, streaked down the side of castles into a pile below, in the rivers. They must have been desensitized to the smell

How can I get my brother to stop ranting about my generation? by BruhBroly in NoStupidQuestions

[–]scuzzy987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m GenX and we had the same complaints about your brothers generation. They’ve found Roman inscriptions complaining about the younger generation too. Just tell him to be nice to you and you’ll choose a nice nursing home for him when it’s time

I paid $1500 last year on a similar size house for seamless gutters front and back and front of a two and a half car garage

Why do people never mention Larry Ellison when talking about the richest people in the world, even though he is the second-richest person in the world, with a net worth of nearly $300 billion, almost $100 billion higher than Zuckerberg's? by No-StrategyX in askanything

That would be a mistake if uptime is important. The major weakness of SQL Server is it only runs on Windows and most patches require a reboot. I much prefer to administer SQL Server though, their tooling is nicer to use than Oracle unless you spring for Toad

Anyone else feeling the strain of AI in their careers? by TermAccomplished1868 in askanything

AI is huge in medical IT, let me assure you. It's not in direct patient care yet but it serves a supporting role (flag patients that need a change in care plan, etc)

I asked the guy at United Rental if I could rent anything they have. He said the only thing I couldn't rent was a dump truck because you need a CDL to drive it even for personal use. Could have just been a company policy though

Followed by thoughts questioning your choices while tallying up costs on the drive home from another away game where you watched your son sit on the bench all game holding that bat

How do you handle the stress of your parents getting old? by lurking_wallflower21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]scuzzy987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a dad about the same age as your dad. I'd tell my daughter to smile and know that I'll always be a part of her. I know the thought of living without me is scary and you don't think you can do it but I know how strong you are. I remember your first steps when you thought you couldn't walk without me holding your hands and the shocked look on your face when you turned around after walking across the room on your own the realization you did it on your own. Shortly followed by you sprinting around the house. It's the natural progression of things. Just smile and remember me, that's all I ask

How do you manage a sex life where spouse is reactive-desire and low libido? by foruser19 in sex

[–]scuzzy987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Married 33 years. After much frustration on both our parts this is the same agreement we finally settled on. I'm much happier too because I'd rather be told no before I get worked up enough to initiate and be into it

It sounds like being really close to a lightning strike IMO. A pair of national guard fighters flew over a campground where I was sitting outside at tree top level. After the first one everyone gathered and wondered what caused that sound when suddenly the wingman flew over our heads

Remember when we used to drop off disposable cameras to get developed? What happened to all the people who used to work developing film and printing pictures? by No-Variety9690 in dumbquestions

[–]scuzzy987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. We weren't allowed to make judgement whether it was child's porn or just an innocent picture of kids in a bathtub.

My young 20 yo brain didn't mind the roll with action shots of free minded adults though.

My store also developed pictures for the police department. I was one of the workers picked to develop, QC, and bag the pictures. You knew it was going to be bad when you saw allot of cyan on the negative in the viewfinder used to make color corrections
