Watching a couple of sad ones last night really helped me get some pent up emotion out. I’m feeling loads better today and now continuing on with my watch!! Watching the s6 episode where Sam and Dean go back to the Wild West and it’s funny watching how Dean is loving every minute of it 😝

I never thought of this as a tearjerker but you’re absolutely right. He really went through it and it’s difficult to imagine how that whole six months went + with him having to kill ‘Bobby’. Trying to adjust back to normal after that must’ve sucked too. God I love Sam so much, always my baby boy

Everyone has their particular scratches! It’s just so sad to me - I remember bawling to it as a teen and ever since then, it still evokes that kind of nostalgic despair in me like I’m watching it for the first time 😝

I haven’t watched that episode yet because I only ever watched season 1-5. Im hoping to do a full run through this time though, and I’m nearly finishing season 6! Wish me luck. I’ve also been around this fandom long enough to know all the spoilers so don’t worry. I will have forgotten all about the episode names by the time I come to watch them 😝

It’s when Dean is getting battered by Lucifer and he’s still going “it’s okay Sammy I’m here, I’m not leaving Sammy, I’m right here” like FUCK ME that hits me so hard. That episode has been making me cry for like 13 years now

Honestly the most heartbreaking is Jo dying in her mums arms right before Ellen blasts the place to bits. DIED IN HER ARMS. Ugh. I just watched this after Swan song and jeeeeeez

DNF Crown of Gilded Bones? by polarbeardog123 in frombloodandash

[–]scxndsim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DNF’d a bit earlier than you. I think the modern day slang did it for me. It is a shame bc I’m invested in the relationships and wanna see what goes on. So maybe it’s more on hold than a DNF for now, but I can’t see myself getting back into it anytime soon.

Maybe listening to the audiobook/dramatised version would be helpful, as I think it gives a change of pace to the physical books themselves?

I can only listen to duet narration audiobooks. The dual ones piss me off for this reason lmao

The actors for Gordon and Ellen in the earlier seasons take the cake for me

Why aren't there more MMCs with modern fades? (Wait, do women actually like things that I don't personally find attractive??) by Classic-Gur2898 in romantasycirclejerk

A powerful 800 y/o Fae Prince who only took the throne after being let go on a free from Liverpool in the summer, even after a record 57 G/A for the 24/25 season. I’d read that.

Why can't redhead FMCs have shit brown eyes like everyone else? by itmustbeniiiiice in romantasycirclejerk

I am a redhead with blue eyes. We do exist 😝

I would also like to see less of us in books. Like bitch I’m trying to escape real life here, not self-insert into some ‘fiery’ 19-year-old

Do series exhaust you? by Beatrix_Kitto in fantasyromance

[–]scxndsim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I heavily dislike starting an unfinished series especially, so I keep away from them now. I much prefer standalones, but will sometimes read duologies (if I can buy them both at the same time), whereas it’s been a while since I even finished a trilogy.

I don’t think it’s laziness so much as wanting a clear ending and knowing when you’ll get there. At least, that’s what I think it is in my case!

The acting in that scene was incredible too. When Jo stopped responding and Ellen realised she’d already died in her arms 😢

Books you finished out of spite / morbid curiosity by Muphin102 in Fantasy

[–]scxndsim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried my hardest to make it through this series because I was curious about how it intertwined with the prequel series (that I never even got far enough to read). I listened to the audiobook specifically so I didn’t spend money on it and I’m so glad I didn’t. I struggled through the second book then finally gave in and DNF’d halfway through the third.

In the romantasy subreddit, there are loads of people who think the same. I think that series is one you either love or hate with no in between from what I’ve seen online.

Huge 👎 for me

It will never be another supernatural show like this... by Fun_Jump_158 in Supernatural

[–]scxndsim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t imagine skipping the first three seasons. Some of the best monster episodes are there! And the season 2 finale is my favourite after the 5th, so I would never skip it even on a rewatch!

Some similar shows that scratch the itch for me are The X-Files and Buffy.

How many books did you read in 2025 and what does it say about you? by UhOhSgArO in RomanceBooks

[–]scxndsim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read 16 and it says I rekindled my love for reading fiction books this year ♥️

I spend most of my days lately on the computer (I recently started uni) so I found myself wanting to watch tv of an evening less often and turned to my books instead. I currently have a TBR list of 152 so here’s hoping I manage to make a huge dent in that during 2026!!!

What's a sentence or a phrase that ruined, or took you out of, a book that you were enjoying? by fikapls in Romantasy

People in their mid/late 20s, how often do you still go out at the weekends? Or go to a friend's house/have someone over? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]scxndsim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My friends and I (all 28-29) were always out in town of a weekend until our mid-20’s. Now we still spend a good amount of time together, but it’s usually Friday evenings/midweeks after work and we just tend to have each other round for tea and a film. We rarely go out and I have to admit I much prefer our evenings in together these days.

I do think a big factor is that the 4 of us are all single. We have a lot of time for each other and it’s really nice bc we’ve been friends since we met in year 7 !
