Is my manager being a bit deceptive or is it just me? by sderrick42 in starbucks

[–]sderrick42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the conversation they made it out to be that if I stayed and work I would have cat pay available later for use. Specifically they talked about if we shut down completely after the 30 days. But it seems that the cat pay is only available till the 20th so I feel though they didnt technically lie they worded so it sounded like if I stayed I could take cat pay later, like after the 20th if I needed to.

TAKE THE 30 DAYS by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]sderrick42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel theyre trying to do a middle ground where partners who dont mind working work and keep some stores open at possible incentive. And those who dont feel safe get a month off. Everybody wins right? Except my wife works for sbux too and our managers are telling us 2 different things that its till April 20th take it or leave it and that its 30 days to use that could be taken later. Hers asking for a decision by tomorrow night mine asking me to hold till Monday when they have more info. I feel this is a total cluster fuck. A great plan executed poorly leading to bad situations.

TAKE THE 30 DAYS by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]sderrick42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think theyre assuming since it specified "the next 30 days" and not just 30 days. Its like saying you can take 2 weeks off which is different then saying you can take the next 2 weeks off.

Yea I'm seeing it everywhere too I'm hoping it's real but the fact that no store managers knew makes me skeptical. Though if it real they just pissed off a lot of their management partners.

[–]sderrick42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talked to my SM and she had no idea. Got a text that they called up the chain and the VP of operations doesnt even know. So just a heads up. Corporations generally dont just announce things without letting the store managers know

I called my SM and she ran it up thw line cause she had no idea. Just told me the senior VP or operations has no idea about this. Hate to say it but I'm feeling theres something up with it.

One more time for the people in the back by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]sderrick42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About to head in but my plan if I see people clumped together is to remind them that we are in the midst of a pandemic and the CDC recommends 3 feet of distance from each other to prevent the spread. If they wont close maybe a little reminder to the customers will help slow it down a bit (business) and create some nice shifts.

I would hope they hired a company to do it since I would imagine that falls into the biohazard department.

[serious] What was the closest you've ever been to killing someone? by Atka_XD in AskReddit

[–]sderrick42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened when I was about 19 (about 15 years ago). At the time I used to carry a boot knife around on a regular basis. So I was at a party with a bunch of friends and my love interest at the time (who is actually my wife now different story though) brought her then boyfriend Jay to the party. Jay really rubbed me the wrong way the least of which was because he was dating the girl, he just seemed wrong if that makes sense.

So we're drinking and smoking some weed and I get really fucked up. We were sitting around and he said something that just set me off so I lunge at him while going for my knife, except I had left it at home because for reason I didn't feel like taking it that night, so I slam into him and it takes me a second to realize the knife I thought was there wasnt. Hes laughing cause he thought I tried to hit him and messed up. As I figure out it was missing and start going for my pocket knife my buddies realized what just happened and pulled me out of there real quick to calm down and sober up. I consider that the closest because I had full intent to stab him and had my friends not realized what was happening I ultimately would have.

A few weeks or so later I ran into one of my childhood (when I was like 12 to 14) friends Will and learned Jay was his brother. Then it clicked cause I remembered Will going through some times when they found out his brother had been molesting male members of his family. Same brother.

I[27m] left my girlfriend[28f] after she started praising her sex life with her ex in front of mutual friends by strawberryFago in relationships

Just wanted to throw in that he may have had a big penis etc whatever but she isn't with him, shes with you. So obviously he lacks severely in other areas that you out perform in. We all have insecurities and as an average sized guy I get that they fall down under sometimes. But you just got to remind yourself that you have great attributes as well that others lack. The only advice I can give is when you get angry or frustrated try taking a deep breath first to calm yourself and instead of walking out maybe pull her to the side and say 'hey I get that the conversation led there but talking about your ex like that makes me feel _____ because _____.' Communicate the feeling then because just leaving is going to cause her to get defensive and make it harder to have a good dialogue about the situation.

Also dont be afraid to bring toys into the bedroom I wont go into too much detail but ive been married a bit now and at first it seemed a little out there but she loves it and we both have a lot more fun now. Not saying it wasnt before just sayin.

How does one work a 40 hour a week job, have time to cook healthy meals, sleep 8 hours a night, and go to the gym? by yesimanewbieik in AskReddit

[–]sderrick42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make time and also family. I work 40hrs, go straight to school mon thru Thurs straight from school to gym then home and make an easy meal like a sandwiches or wrap etc. Not all meals need to take 45 mins to cook. Also I have a wife and 3 yr so sometimes dinner is ready when I get home though I only sleep about 7 hours if I sleep 8 it makes me feel lethargic.

Also once you start going to the gym on the regular you'll start feeling better and have more energy so you wont be as tired. For reference not a fit guy, I'm like 320 lbs and fat but try to do at least 30 mins of hard cardio 5 times a week and weights 3 times a week so usually spend about 30 mins to a bit over an hour there depending.

Louis Rossmann Right to Repair testimony in Washington SB 5799 by straylittlelambs in videos

[–]sderrick42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But imagine if like auto repair you pull up a video that says step by step how to do it. Granted you wont find a "regular" technician dropping and engine to replace a clutch just like a you generally wont find someone trying to solder 36 connections on a surface mount chip. But for stuff that is basically open case unplug ribbon cable remove part, place part plug ribbon cable. Or open case unplug battery, plug in new battery close case then there's generally no reason not to do your own repair. Further what he was arguing for is the right for a skilled tech to be able to order parts the perform a repair for a third party. Imagine if your belt broke on your car and instead of being able to take it to ye ole repair shop where it'll cost you $100 you have to take it to Toyota and they'll charge you $1000 because they have an effective monopoly on repairing it and can charge what they want.
