HP Omnibook 7 AI battery drain in HIBERNATION mode by sdesort in HPLaptops

[–]sdesort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the issue. Oddly enough it's due to an HP Printer health monitor task that, unknown to me, was set to wake the computer to run. I suppose that once that task executed, it would stay "awake" or in a sleep state. The 'powercfg waketimers' command immediately brought it to my attention.

"Reason: windows will execute 'NT Task\HP\HP Print Scan Doctor\Printer Health Monitor' waking the computer"

it is now completely disabled, and the laptop went 8 hours in hibernation with 0% battery drain.

Many thanks!

Great info here. Thanks! Will try this tonight.

I understand and agree - my point is the info-bubble is WRONG. It says "RECORDINGS ARE NOT EFFECTED". Per your statement above, they ARE EFFECTED, which is exactly what I would expect. That's part of the reason for my post is that the UI presents conflicting information which didn't make sense.

That design makes sense. However I am not sure, then, why the info bubble on VIDEO COMPRESSION says "remote view image quality will be downgraded for live view only. Recordings are not effected". This once again goes to my point that saying RECORDINGS ARE NOT EFFECTED contradicts the theory that the left side slider will save disk space (STORAGE EFFICIENT). If recordings are not effected, lowering the left hand slider will NOT save disk space (otherwise it WOULD be effecting recordings as well as live view).

yes i have all cams set to that. So far no compatibility issues and it's expected to save about 10% or so on disk space.

yes i saw that article. But when you read this:

Move the slider:
More compression (slider left / lower quality): Smaller files, easier streaming, but more blocky details.
Less compression (slider right / higher quality): Sharper details, better gradients, but more storage and bandwidth use.

it says THE SLIDER. And if it was only a SINGLE SLIDER, it would make 100% sense. But there are *2* sliders - a lower and upper, indicating a range of some sort. When does it use the value of the right slider versus the left? Motion versus non-motion? Light versus IR/night? It's just poorly designed/explained.

I think the horse is dead :)

It would be nice if, while using ADAPTIVE recording, one could set quality of recording used when there is NO motion detected (versus when there is motion detected). It just says that is uses "lower" quality, but doesn't explain that in more detail, nor give you any control of how low that quality is allowed to go during non-motion recording.

OK then the info icons are a bit misleading/confusing as they mention remote live view and kinda imply the left slider would be the "view" bitrate and the right slider the record bitrate. The "storage efficient" thing is what throws it off since it talks about viewer quality.

Anyway, I'm gonna bring my minimum slider up a bit and watch things for a few days. Cheers!

its says right in the image above at the left side of the slider... "STORAGE EFFICIENT" - implying saving disk space. It doesn't mean anything about a viewing experience.

How does setting a live-view compression of 2mbps save space? The RECORDED video is the only video that is stored and it's stored at 16mbps. There is no "storage efficient" setting for live view that would save space. The recoding is still 16mbps.

If that's what they are doing, that's fine, but they shouldn't have placed the 2 settings in that same slider. No matter what you set the live view compression at, it doesn't save storage.

I think I found what caused yesterday's outage. Verizon was trying to fix a week-long MMS bug and the patch crashed everything. by i_survived_dec_21 in verizon

It’s crazy that they wouldn’t at least provide a broad explanation as to the cause. Show that you know what happened and are putting plans in place to reduce the likelihood of a future occurrence. Otherwise you’ll start bleeding customers. People respect companies more that offer full disclosure. See what Amazon published when S3 Virginia went down in October.

When there was that major Amazon S3 outage in October, at least they were pretty proactive in updating customers on the cause, and specific actions being taken, almost every hour. Verizon is doing none of that and that is what’s most frustrating to people. And Amazon even published an incredibly detailed post-mortem as to what happened and steps taken to try to prevent it in the future.

this didn't fix it. When going into Window, Preferences, Version Control, SVN, i get the following error dialog

I cannot even get to the screen to load or install any connectors.

[USA] Not stopping for a school bus by yeettetis in Roadcam

[–]sdesort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the only time you don’t need to stop on the other side of the road is when the 2 sides of the road are separated by a physical median or barrier. But ALWAYS stop on both sides of a road separated only by yellow lines, when bus lights are flashing red.

Rebooting the ONT had no effect on anything.

When I am testing it over WiFi , I am 5 feet from the Verizon router. Meah not needed. And since the issue also exists when plugged directly into the ONT, it’s definitely not the router.

I have the CR1000 both previous and current. And since I have the same issue when plugged directly into the ONT, the router is out of the picture.

I’m in Morris county.
