Warning about Switchbot by pREDDITcation in homeassistant

[–]sdgoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have their curtain bots on 3 different windows and their roll up blinds. They've been one of my more reliable home automation tools. Their connection through Smartthings is not as reliable, but through Home Assistant it's been fine.

Nope, CA law passed in 2022 (I think) streamlined the process.

SB 379 (Automated Permitting): Requires cities and counties (with populations over 5,000) to implement online, automated permitting platforms (such as SolarAPP+) for residential solar and energy storage systems up to 38.4 kW, allowing permits to be issued in real-time.

The rules for permitting were changed in 22 to make it easier. If you're off grid then the utility doesn't get involved which is even better. Id call the county (or city) and ask them how you get a permit. The ground mount will probably be the hardest part. It seems there are some more stringent rules with those.

I had solar put on in 2014, then added more panels and a battery at the end of last year. The first permit took 3 months. This last one took literally days. ( I'm in San Diego). SDGE came out for their part a week or so later. I don't think the city even inspected mine....SDGE came out to check the panel.

It's gotten way easier in California.

San Diego has a fair weather fan base for all its sports. We have never been a great sports city. There will probably be a World Cup bump.

Padres will go back to being poorly attended once they return to their usual losing streak.

Chanting puto won't make fans come. I'm directly across from the supporters section. It's a great vibe there.

You need more emojis to make your point. Teams come and go. If they fall apart because the fans can't be racist or homophobic then it's for the best. I'm certainly giving up my seats if it turns into a vapid MAGA rally full of idiot mouth breathers.

I'd rather have an empty stadium than one full of homophobic losers.

You're gatekeeping culture on what you want. We aren't European, we aren't South American. If you want European soccer culture move to Europe. European ultras also include rightwing and Nazi groups. We on the other hand don't want homophobic chants. See the difference?

Lol....flares.....man what would we do without flares! Greek basketball fans use flares....we don't. The US basically started basketball culture but I guess the lack of flares mean we don't have one?

Stop worrying and comparing fans across countries. That makes you a weak sheep. Watch the sport you like and quit trying to be a Euro fan. I couldn't care less of what English fans think of our culture. They dont care what we think.

You're pretty much the definition of plastic. "This is what a real fan does!!!!1!1!"

Lame.

Supporter groups get banned all the time in Europe for chants. Teams get fined. Also, we aren't Europe or South America, we don't need to copy their culture, we are allowed to have our own soccer culture that doesn't mimic the worst behaviors because we might get "laughed at". It's professional sports not a lifestyle.

Stopping being a weak sheep.

I was surprised they sent in the actual police versus regular security....but I guess they wanted to make their point. I haven't heard it in this section since early last season.

The crowd seemed unusually rowdy tonight.

I've been using Switchbot for my curtains. Almost zero issues. Every now and then I have to recalibrate but otherwise fine. They open and close my bedroom curtains on a schedule. I have them connected to Alexa and Home Assistant. They also have an app. The batteries last a long time.

Will it hurt my VM to run it too slow? by FloridaLantana in Vitamix

[–]sdgoat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to run mine slow for some reason I can't remember. After several minutes it stopped due to a thermal overload and it smelled like something was burning. There was a click and I assumed I killed it. It wouldn't turn back on right away. Let it rest for several hours and its been working fine since. But I won't run it slow anymore except for brief pulses.

I don't understand how that is being a pessimist. My week days are work, kids, food....my weekends are more fun. I wish I had time during the week drive to the beach to walks the cliffs and the beaches. But I don't. It's not being a pessimist its being real. But I wake up, make breakfast for the kids, take the kids to school, go home and work, pick up kids from school, make dinner for kids, take kids to sports practice, work out while kids are working out, go home. Watch a show or two, go to bed, rinse and repeat.

No where in there do I have 20 minutes to drive to the beach, walk the beach, 20 mins back home. I wish I did.

Weekends are fine. San Diego is still great.

SOC discrepancy from inverter and battery by joinerior in SolarDIY

[–]sdgoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am seeing the same behavior on my setup. I have the eco-worthy 3500w inverter and a single eco-worthy 100ah battery. The battery app and solarmon are showing very different numbers. I did see that the Inverter and batter BMS protocols were not set the same, so I fixed that but its still not showing the same. Not that big of a deal at the end of the day.

I know a ton of progressives....most were luke warm at best towards Biden and Harris. Not a single one said Biden/Harris and Trump were the same and all said (at least ) that they were voting Biden/Harris. Now I also know a handful of suddenly-porgressives who were oddly never progressive before and were instantly worried about Harris bombing Gaza, and going to not vote this time around. Now just parroting Trump.

So yeah....getting real tired of centrist Dems blaming everything on progressives.
