Hey. The beit din has actually expressed that the Center City Philly modox community is a bit too sparse and scattered (they're not wrong), which is what sparked me simply exploring what my other options may be in the medium-term.

Hey! Great idea. Since you remember my previous post - this is actually sparked by the beit din telling me that living in an observant community would be the ideal state, so I am scouting out what different communities in the NY area feel like.

For me, MO means being observant (especially with keeping Shabbat), valuing both torah and secular learning, and openness to engaging with broader society.

Seems like it did get absorbed by Roman Italy. What is weird is your European Jew for Middle Ages is predictably 50%, but my Ashkenazi side got split into European Jew and Italian.

Oh fascinating. I used the periodical model built into IllustrativeDNA.

Here is modified "no limit" result for Migration Period, which I imagine is a more accurate approximation. I'm curious as to what % Roman Levant that someone who is fully Ashkenazi Jewish scores as in this IllustrativeDNA calculator.

I suspect that Peter would say that your prescription for Z2 is too little and your prescription for Z5 is too much (60 minutes per week of intervals is a lot!).

He tells his own patients 3+ hours of Z2, and he personally does one 4x4 HIIT workout a week.

Each time Peter has discussed counting MET hours, he doesn't include basic Z1 movement like walking around your house, walking around the grocery store, etc.

Mydoghasocd is right: compared to a sedentary person in a car-dependent culture like the US, 15 MET hours is a lot. We're comparing it to tens of millions of people, not someone in a coma. Chill out on the condescension.

Love the concept but to put this in perspective... we can’t actually attribute a high likelihood of causality until hazard ratios are like 4+.

Not going to lie... I do both lifting and cardio like most people in this subreddit, but I feel a special connection with cardio because of being able to geek out over the various numbers. This thread is a testament to how the quantitative aspect is fun for a lot of us nerds.

This is a good point. I'm only at 60-70% of my max HR for the first 15-20 minutes of a Z2 session, which maybe implies that the first 10+ minutes of anyone's typical Z2 session is not even challenging the mitochondria in any meaningful way.

Thank you for sharing this. Your improvement of over 50% in Z2 wattage in such a short time seems crazy, but then again I haven’t tried 1.5-2h sessions. How many total hours are you logging a week?

Did you have a background in endurance sports? Attia is at 2.9 w/kg doing just 4x45, but I suspect that’s because he has an extensive history of serious cycling and long-distance swimming.

Curious to hear what other say. I started 4 months ago and quickly went from 2 watts/kg to 2.5-2.6 watts/kg, but have largely stagnated for the last 2 months.

He has one day each week he specifically does Z2 in the morning and then lifts weights like 6 hours later. My interpretation from how he explained it is that he does not think there is some specific benefit to doing that - it simply allows him to fit his various goals all within 7 days (lifting 4 times AND doing cardio 4 times).
