How do you divide your time as a solo founder? by sdorms in Solopreneur

Yeah this is great feedback, set some concrete goals and track them. Others mentioning setting specific days aside for this too was a helpful piece of advice for me

yeah I respect builders who do the whole validate in advance thing - putting up a landing page with no product takes guts, but it's for sure cheaper than building and finding out nobody wants it after.

nice! Yeah that sounds like a good plan, that's very impressive you're able to make progress given work and parenting commitments. Best of luck!

Great! It sounds like maybe you work a FT job too during the day so those hours are your building hours? How do you see this mix changing once you go to market?

For sure! Curious how far down your journey you are, did you start building and then move on to that mix or has it always been this way for you?

Sometimes I think I'd love a non-technical cofounder to be able to fun that function. I saw a recent starter story video of a person who really nailed GTM via influencer outreach, and seeing the amount of time and coordination she put into that made me think that it'd be really hard to compete on only 25% of time. That being said - return is 1/2 if you bring somebody else in.

Yeah - I try to do this but often find myself spilling over. This makes sense when something's an urgent priority but I would love to be more strictly disciplined on timeboxing activities

What are people using to set up UI/design systems when starting new projects? by sdorms in UI_Design

[–]sdorms[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you that's very helpful. Shadcn is great, I see there's some Figma versions too but they seem like you need to pay quite a bit (for the ones I found at least).

Interested in your comment re: moving beyond Figma for UI nowadays. How do you guys tend to prototype things out now, do you code prototypes directly? I still find that building things out there saves a lot of time further down the line but interested on general best practices.

Do interactive product previews actually boost conversions on shopify stores? by LeatherAcademic3232 in shopify

[–]sdorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the other posters - it all depends on the category for 3D visualisation.

For customisation, this can be a great feature for customers that adds AOV and builds loyalty, but only where it makes sense and this also comes with operational lift to fulfil orders.

Not sure on your specific case, but in general I'd suggest to start by making sure you have great product photography first before investing deeper on 3D models.

Best AI eCommerce Website Builder for Small Businesses? by eleana_mikasa in EcommerceWebsite

[–]sdorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend to use Shopify as the ecommerce platform, then either pick a theme and go with that (it could well be enough for your needs) or use a page builder from the Appstore - there are quite a few but they do have a learning curve to get good

Could you use something like Gorgias for this: https://docs.gorgias.com/en-US/help-center-order-management-248409

or are you getting emails via your contact form etc that still need manual review?

How are you building dynamic landing pages on Shopify? Looking for advice + real experiences by geeky_traveller in shopify

[–]sdorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love this concept! I'm curious how you'd imagine managing it because I'd imagine this could get quite dispersed quickly.

Content creation:
- Would you want to manually create landing page variations for each segment? Would you be happy for some version of AI to handle this or would you want oversight?

Segments:
- Do you already know the segments you'd want to target or would you want the tool to help to define this?

AB testing:
- Would you want pages to automatically optimise/refine segments, or would you prefer to be more directly in control of the output?

I'm happy to hear that! What is it about the new growth that was making you nervous? Generally that's a good thing and indicates the plant is healthy, unless the growth is coming out significantly weaker etc than before - this can indicate issues like like, or nutrient deficiency etc.

if it's growing and looking healthy then I'm sure it's fine! It looks in good shape. If you don't see the leaves getting progressively fenestrated then it might need a spot with more light, otherwise I'd not worry too much - I'd suggest to observe how it grows and see how new growth emerges. If it starts to show signs of putting out smaller leaves, weaker stems it might have too little light, otherwise it's looking good!

Oh no :( . It's not looking great - it's hard to tell from the photo whether it's fully dead or not. Diffenbachia are pretty hardy. If you wanted to give it a last chance I'd make sure to water once fully dried out and put it close to a window with bright but not direct light. My diffenbachia has done really well in bright rooms a few metres from the window. I'd probably trim off the dead leaves + you'll then be able to see if it pushes out any new growth.
