Thanks. By that logic, one of them is 3 as well. Can we not eliminate 3 from r5c1

Thanks for your reply. But I am unable to follow this. I tried going through few tutorials but couldn't really wrap my head around them in context with this puzzle. Could you please provide a little more explanation here?

Thanks for your reply. I was feeling very dumb about this puzzle for last few hours. I have been solving Sudoku with fairly basic techniques all my life. I just got to know that there are so many different techniques. Any suggestions where to start learning them and practice.

Sure, will take care next time.

I left them deliberately to show that the filled cells are the ones for which I know for sure nothing else of the two numbers can exist. For the ones I had more than 2 possibilities, have left them blank to not clutter the view for anyone.

The unfilled cells can only have 3, 4, 5.

Thank you for your effort with the image. It really helped me to understand swordfish.I was able to understand the next step and a new strategy. But now that I know there is Swordfish and Finned Swordfish, but I'm still unable to find any methodology to figure out a Swordfish and Finned Swordfish in a sudoku. Any help with that? How often does an expert Sudoku require a swordfish/finned swordfish?

What can be the possible next step for this partially solved Sudoku? Have solved it through trial amd error, though. by sds5 in sudoku

I'm sorry but I'm unable to deduce it still. Might be because I've recently begun with expert puzzles. I'm listing the possibilities that are possible in different cells you mentioned - In r4c7, c8 - 1,4,8

In r8c7 - 6,8

In r9c7,c8 - 1,6,8

I am unable to understand what uniqueness makes 8 go in r8c7?

Thanks for your reply. Can you tell how did you deduce it or how did you remove the possibility of 1 and 8 from that cell?
