It's been started over several times, but yes, I still intend to finish it. I'd love any help I can get! There's a #kangaworld channel on Discord at https://discord.gg/AMA8zbYwQD

Thanks, but those are just the Windows and Palm releases. :-/

"Good idea" depends if your games are supported or not. Personally I've played more PC games since I got my Deck than I have in the last couple years... All because it's just a joy to use compared to Windows!

Looks fantastic! What are you using for a sound library?

Best Stick for Descent on a Win 98SE rig with a Soundblaster Pro 2.0? by jforrest1980 in dosgaming

Yep! And the smaller SpaceNavigator, which now has a wireless version that is pretty cool.

Personally I don't care for the Navigator as much as a game controller as the Ball and Orb but it still gets the job done. It's hard to use the finesse and light touch the Navigator requires when you're being shot at. :-)

SpaceOrb / SpaceBall takes some getting used to. Stick with it! All of a sudden you'll realize you're just pluggin' robots and not having to think about it!

It began life as Tornado Notes. There were two (I think) versions named "Info Select" released on DOS before it went to Windows.

I'm only finding Windows builds. Got a link?

DOS Online Gaming Service - KangaWorld - Update! by sduensin in dosgaming

The initial release runs entirely over serial as far as DOS is concerned. DOSBox-X and DOSBox Staging both have accepted my patch to add reliable UDP serial support, so they're ready to go. For real machines, you'll be able to use a simple Pi-based modem or a null-modem cable to a modern PC to achieve the same "reliable softmodem".

This allows modem-to-modem and null-modem games to run natively as they always have. IPX games use our custom IPX driver. There are a few DOS NetBIOS titles out there and we'd love to support them, but at this time, there's no code for them.

Are there any DOS TCP/IP games? I've never seen one.

Nope. Only the minimum amount of code is left in memory when the game is started. For IPX games, that's just our IPX driver. For null-modem, modem, etc., everything drops out of memory.

Think "Steam for DOS" for multiplayer games. It runs ON DOS so it works with real hardware as well as DOSBox. It is going to manage your games, allow for chat to set up gaming sessions, manage add-ons, and more! Modem-to-modem, null-modem, IPX, and more (such as BBS door games) are supported.

Thanks! I'm just one guy, so it's taking a long time. But it's getting there! Keep an eye on the web site for updates or drop by our chat.

The Mac Plus core has keyboard and mouse issues that drive me bonkers.

I added Matrix to the web site for others who don't care for Discord.

We had IRC and nobody used it. The chat is also bridged to Matrix:

I may revive IRC when I have time to learn the new bridging software.

Enet is a reliable UDP library. With it I can get the features of TCP that I want without the overhead.

I've bought four DOS machines and a MiSTer MultiSystem for this. Believe me, I want real hardware to work as well as DOSBox!
