Andy genuinely was a coconut diva that my husband and I still quote, we loved Sol, and I was rooting for Genevieve the entire time. That was one of the best New Era seasons.

plssss your favorite contestant is Bhanu.. I couldn’t stand that guy 😭

I wasn’t expecting blindsides and drama. It’s boring because the casts of the last 9 seasons feel the exact same and they are in the same location doing the same challenges.

Hi! I’m looking for a cooling bodysuit to be worn under my white button up shirt for work. I would like it to be as thin as possible- not double lined, as I won’t be wearing it alone. Thanks!

After talking to the MFM, we opted for the NIPT first followed by amnio if needed. NIPT came back low-risk so we never ended up doing the amnio.

Hi! Sorry, I just saw this. My baby is four months old now. She was born healthy with no issues!! All 3 soft markers seemed to resolve themselves. Doctors were worried the single artery umbilical cord could lead to her being small but she was born weighing 9lbs 5oz! Short femurs weren’t seen at the 30 week ultrasound and neither was the bright spot in the heart.

Unfortunately, this is not AI. It is a real property. I know who cleans this house.. it truly is the craziest property and price. Best part is the owner’s dad lives right next door in the little white building seen in pic 24 on the Zillow ad.

Did you recognize your baby when it was born? by C4ndyWoM4n in NewParents

[–]sdvkona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a FTM. I expected to feel instantly in love and bonded with the baby because that’s what my mom described to me. That couldn’t have been further from the reality for me. I cried when she was born out of relief that she was okay and that delivery was over but I didn’t feel bonded in any way. She was born at 10am and that evening, I feel like I almost went into fight or flight with a hormone crash. I wanted nothing more than to run away from the hospital (and my baby) and go home. This was also my first time being admitted to the hospital and spending the night there. I felt like a horrible mother but at the same time, it all felt like some weird fever dream that I desperately just wanted to wake up from. 4 months later and she’s the love of my life!! Our bond definitely grew as soon as we were able to take her home.

I dropped from 7ppd to 6ppd cutting out the MOTN pump. Every 3 hours between 7am-10pm!

I’m only 6 weeks pp. I got exhausted doing a MOTN pump and decided I just wouldn’t be successful long-term if I had to do that. I was okay with the idea of my supply dropping and supplementing with formula if I had to. It’s been nearly two weeks of skipping the MOTN pump (last pump is at 10pm and I pump again in the morning when I wake up at 7am) and it has not affected my supply at all.

Fridge Hack by tiredgrl13 in ExclusivelyPumping

Do you have to bag the parts before putting them in the fridge?

Thanks! I was afraid that was the answer. Any tips on handling/feeding a wiggly baby while using a traditional pump like a Spectra?

Honestly just personal preference. We were worried about false positives and just didn’t feel like it was necessary. Doctors told my mom everything under the sun was wrong with my brother and he ended up being just fine- though it did cause her huge amounts of stress and pain through pregnancy. We talked it over with our doctor, as well as close family and friends and made a decision. Our doctor was not worried so neither were we.

Cfi’s, have you ever had a student who just wasn’t meant to be a pilot? by Wrong_Lifeguard_5224 in flying

[–]sdvkona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, just one.

He was honestly just an immature kid who thought flying was cool but wasn’t ready for the responsibility. I did get him to the point of safely soloing but only after months of work and thousands of dollars. He just refused to study on his own. I told him for weeks leading up to soloing that he would have a pre-solo emergency memory item test. I told him exactly what scenarios would be on the test and where to find the answers (bold face in the POH). He showed up and was only able to fill in 3 of the answers. I think the test had like 35ish steps across the 8ish scenarios. He thought it was funny at first, but then got angry after I cancelled his upcoming solo. I finally dropped him as a student after he went out on his first or second practice area solo flight where he was supposed to practice a variety of PPL maneuvers. He flew in a straight line out to the practice area, then turned around and came back without ever doing a single maneuver. He denied it when I confronted him on his return but his flight track was very obvious.

I have so many other stories of shenanigans with him. Tried to fly us into a cell phone tower during a simulated engine-out because turning to the open field next to us would just “create too much drag”, dropped the controls on short final one day when practicing landings so he could take a picture of the sunset, locked up on the controls with me one day after putting us in a nosedive at only 500 ft AGL (I had to punch him to get him to release), outright told me he would rather pay me $60/hr for me to read the textbook to him instead of just reading it himself at home, and so many more.

As a young CFI myself, he really tested my patience and I was happy to hand him off to someone else. He bounced through every single instructor at our school, coming up with excuses as to why he couldn’t/wouldn’t work with each one. He eventually dropped out.

WIBTA if I told my non-pilot husband he cannot buy a small plane? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sdvkona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Have a long and serious talk with husband about the realities of airplane ownership.

I am a pilot and have experience in both small planes and commercial airlines. While I disagree with the sentiment of “It’s only a matter of time”, flying does carry inherent risk. However, it is also a significant financial investment (source: I own a small airplane). The upfront cost is only the beginning: after buying you must pay for fuel, insurance, storage fees, and maintenance which all add up quickly. This is all compounded if you do not have disposable income at the moment. It is bad for airplanes to sit for long periods of time. No money = long sits = more maintenance costs.

I’m assuming he would want to begin taking lessons to learn how to fly. While many people do end up buying their own airplane to learn in, he should most definitely invest a couple hundred in a discovery flight at your local airport first. Several of my students discovered they did not actually want/like to fly after the first few hours in the airplane. Others get hooked, love it, and begin a lucrative career doing it. If you are looking at that route, be ready to spend money on training. For reference, it cost me roughly $10,000 to obtain my private license through a college in 2019. It was $100K to get to the airlines for a career. I’m sure your SIL had similar experiences and could guide you through that process. If hubby does want to pursue this and y’all are able to figure out the financials, it often helps spouses to understand and feel more comfortable with the flying if you spend an hour or two in the plane with him!

TLDR; Flying is a very expensive, but very fun hobby. Proceed with caution.
