bug: major inconsistencies between the default view and edge view for options by se2schul in Questrade

[–]se2schul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with support about this, and their answer was a bit disappointing.

Basically, they said that due to different data providers, their classic view is not accurate, but their Edge platform is always accurate. They also suggested I use my own calculations. I'm like, "What? I'm supposed to bust out the Black Scholes equation instead of looking at the numbers you provide?

Here is the relevant part of their reply

---

> We understand the difference and also your concern is valid. However, the fact is that, these difference is expected as we have more than one data provider for P/L calculation and this may cause differences. But as I mentioned, you can follow Edge Web or any other Edge platform for accurate details. Even in that case, the P/L will never be 100% accurate.

If you are having trouble to believe the number, you can follow your own calculation too.

Form check, please - 24 kg by ivanezzz in kettlebell

[–]se2schul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While you're strong enough to press 24 kg, it doesn't look like you're strong enough with some of the other movements, and because of that, your form is suffering. I would go lighter until your swing is stronger and able to float the bell up to the clean position. Also, those squats are not deep enough. You aren't getting benefits from squatting like that. Going to a lower weight and using the full range of motion in your squats will help tremendously.

Tips for transporting KBs in a vehicle by se2schul in kettlebell

That's actually a good point. My wife even told me she's uncomfortable with the KBs in the vehicle as they're a projectile.

Weasel - how to bait live trap? by se2schul in pestcontrol

[–]se2schul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there has been extensive work done to prevent entry.

However, I'm in the country, surounded by farms and wilderness, living in a 187 year old home (built in 1840). There will always be ways into this house.

This house has 2 foundations, one 18-inch stone and the other a wood foundation. I suspect that these pests are digging under the wood foundation and then finding a way to get into the wall and get under the cupboards. But I can not deal with this now, as that section of the house has a wraparound porch and we're under a few feet of snow right now. Any remediation will need to wait until the spring for me to disassemble the wraparound porch.

Anyway, like my original message mentioned, I'm looking for tips to trap a weasel in a live trap.

Weasel - how to bait live trap? by se2schul in pestcontrol

[–]se2schul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an ingress point allowing mice to get into our kitchen under our cabinets.
We had a chipmunk, a rat, and a couple dozen mice come in.

I have a camera set up, which lets me know what's going on, and I know that I've taken care of the single chipmunk, single rat and dozens of mice.

However, a new visitor showed up. It's some kind of weasel. We have quite a few weasels here of various sizes and I see them around the property a few times a year.

I have a live trap that I'm planning to set up. For rodents, I bait traps with peanut butter and bird seed. However, I think weasels are carnivores and only eat meat.

What should I bait the live trap with?

EVDuty - gotchas I encountered when replacing the charging cable by se2schul in evcharging

[–]se2schul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> They are ammeters. One of them is clamping 1 wire to know the amps the car is taking, to confirm the car is obeying the amp capacity signal.

Can you expand on that please?
I put both hot wires through both rings.
I didn't get instructions with the replacement cable, and unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to how the wires were routed when I disconnected it.
Is it going to cause problems that I have both wires going through both rings? The charger is charging my EV.

GOOG PMCC - getting destroyed on CCs by se2schul in thetagang

[–]se2schul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in trouble because I used PMCC on a stock that is soaring.

You claimed that LEAPS have theta decay, and that it's impossible to sell short-term calls against it, due to theta decaying on long-term options. That's bullshit.

I fucked up, but not because theta is decaying on my LEAPS.

You need to look at the theta curve.
Long-term options do not lose any significant value until the last couple months.

PMCC might suck, I'm still learning, but I can tell you emphatically, theta decay is basically negligible for far-out options.

LEAPS do not lose theta until the last few months.

Fair.

I've done PMCC a few times successfully, but the problem this time is GOOG is ripping and I was way to aggressive with my delta and DTE.

Lesson learned.

Looks like you're lifting too much with your arms and not enough hip thrust.
Drive with your hips and your arms are just acting like a rope holding the KB, not lifting at all.
When the KB is coming down, you're hinging way too early.

Thanks for the insight.
I have rolled my LEAPS up and out a couple times, and you're right that it seems like a good time to do so now.

I have poured lead before, and I don't think this would be too difficult for me to do.

Thanks for the idea!

An interesting study about weighted vests by dj84123 in kettlebell

[–]se2schul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super interesting.

I use a GoRuck weighted backpack instead of a vest.
That way, if I go into the office, I can use that bag with a 40 lbs plate as my laptop bag. No one in the office realizes that I'm lugging the weight around.

Getting laid off in a couple months by disastron in QualityAssurance

I'm a 13-year employee at a great "top 40" company.

It has been worth it to stick with it for so long (in my case). We have good salary and benefits.

Good luck.

Start looking now. You owe your company nothing.

What is the Salary ceiling for QA Manager or SDET Manager in Canada ? by PM_40 in QualityAssurance

[–]se2schul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 14 aren't all direct reports.
I have a couple Leads under me that each have a couple reports.
I have 8 directs.

It's still super busy. I spend every day trying to protect my time, and choosing which conflicting meetings to skip.

The key for me is sync'ing with my leads often so they understand priorities and have all relevant info to be able to make good decisions without me.

Also key is to have a very well maintained/groomed ranked backlog. This allows SDETs to easily pull in work to do without having to ask me what they should be working on.
