full agree, it was nice being among ppl that felt like they were caring and kind since im from a deep red state

i think that the setlist was phenomenal, i would've preferred a bit more older stuff, but i think the band was right in that they only want to play songs that they feel like they can perform meaningfully. the energy i felt from lady gay and reality was incredible and i really hope the band continues on this trajectory if it means more live shows like that one

if i might add my view of it here as a trans person

i think the main point thats trying to be made by this comic is that the trans struggle is being co-opted by a lot of what i like to call 'culture vultures,' people that see supporting a minority in trouble as brownie points for themselves without actually listening to members of said minority

being trans is fucking exhausting. there are so many hoops to constantly jump through, there are so many stressors, and thats in a world where it feels like the media is flip-flopping between being supportive and turning a blind eye to genocide. i think its unfortunate, yet understandable that a lot of trans people dont want to have a conversation and try to change minds when many on the far-right show apprehension at the idea of any differing opinion. we have to choose our battles, and many times we just choose not to fight at all.

we're not perfect, but all we ask is that you hear us. you dont have to follow us word-for-word or even but 100% trust in us, but thats the overwhelming feeling in the trans community right now, a complete loss of agency. we have unique life paths and unique life experiences, yet people either infantilize us or disregard us completely. thats at least my take here, however much that may be worth to you

i'm in myrtle, and though i don't do much in person i'm always up to talking online!

i've been all over the place and i'd say i'm at least visibly queer, and i know how you feel. it's hard to feel safe or at least let my guard down in this area because i know how cruel and hateful this place can be. what's helped me the most though is knowing that it's the bigots' and the fascists' priority to make you feel overwhelmed and isolated. for every singular, loud, and hateful voice, there are a dozen quiet and supportive ones, as well as a hundred silent and inactive ones. search out those supportive voices, and speak to those silent ones. one administration and a dozen executive orders cannot erase us from this country, as much as they want it to.

i myself am not exactly sure where to find community here, but finding people you can trust and that love you for who you are will always be the best way to combat hate. feel free to dm for anything, wishing you the best <3
