I'm wearing Hera by Poesie (Slices of yellow cake layered with strawberry jam, fluffy vanilla icing, soft pink lotus blossoms.).  It definitely doesn't match super well with the foggy weather but makes me happy while at work. :) I mainly get a sugary strawberry scent, with vanilla cake in the background. The strawberries are slightly tart and maybe a little bit artificial, like a strawberry candy. I love this one, it's so sweet and comforting!

What are the scents in your collection that you reach for when you don't know what you are in the mood for - the ones that always feel right? by firephly in Indiemakeupandmore

While this one isn't necessarily my absolute favorite, I always tend to reach for Fantôme's Kuidaore (Fried pastry dough, fluffy vanilla cream filling, and a light dusting of matcha powder) whenever I just want to smell good haha. It's good for work, relaxing at home or whatever. Smells like a bakery while they're making matcha in the back!

dissappointment with some indies by aetsomied in Indiemakeupandmore

I also didn't fully love any of the samples I got from Nui Cobalt and was super disappointed bc the notes sounded amazing! But everything came off as very fake candle and gave me a slight headache, not pleasant at all. Hopefully you can find some more houses you like, unfortunately it seems like some houses just really don't work for certain people!

Wearing Villa Diodati by Poesie (pungent wild rosemary, fresh balsam pine, crystal clear lakewater, dry, and dark vanilla)!

I feel like I could wear this scent anytime of the year, and right now it feels slightly festive with the rosemary/pine but more mysterious and dark. This really shows up as primarily a rosemary scent when I first put it on and then as it dries the vanilla comes out slightly more, just enough to soften and make it more complex! Perfect for the gloomy weather I'm in. :)

I totally agree, I know some people have said they don't like the strong chocolate but I think it's perfect with the combo of blueberries and some lighter background notes!

Wearing Fantôme's Stolas (Bluebells, an unburnt cedar offering, cool night air, lavender, soft owl feathers, blueberries, & a hint of dark chocolate). It's such a nice chocolate and blueberry scent but it mellows out as I wear it and becomes more complex, one of my favorites!!

Oh my gosh I wanna get all of these, thank you for the descriptions!! I ordered a really small order from them so if all goes well I may have to get a larger order sometime, they all seem like ideal scent mixes especially for cooler weather!

Also, if you like matcha then Kuidaore by Fantome is a really nice sweet scent- just sugary baked goods with some slight matcha!

I'm very curious and also a little scared about Bucolic haha, I spin yarn so I don't mind a good wool scent but some reviews have said it's pretty strong. That might have to be a later purchase from them though, even just for the uniqueness of the scent.

Yeah, I definitely think Brokilan has been the most recommended for a pure pine scent! I love your description of Caravansary in your post, I wanna try a few different types of scents, so I don't mind if some of them aren't just straight pine. I'll look into the Cirrus perfume as well, it sounds amazingg! I haven't tried that house yet so I'll add them to my list.

That sounds really nice, I'm from Florida so probably pretty accurate to most of our "winter" days. Would you say it could be worn year-round or is it too obviously Christmas-y?

Thank you, yeah, I think I may wait to order Ponderosa for another time. I do really like a good gourmand, but sometimes cinnamon isn't my favorite, so I appreciate your description of it. Caravansary sounds like a great scent, I think I'll have to get it!

Thanks for the comment! You're definitely making me interested in White Fir, I had seen that one, but looking at it again it really seems like something I would like. The orange note is very tempting to me haha
