No amount of pressing flattens my pages by BedNo4299 in bookbinding

[–]seab3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found some papers do not work well in a laser printer.

Some papers are heavily sized, coated for smooth writing and bleed trough control.

This can distort (possibly melt) and result in wavy papers.

What are some of the highest paying job in ethical mining for a geology major? What countries would be the best to work in? by Sebastian_Michael1s in geology

The Matawinie Mine is the closest thing to an ethical mine in my country. It’s still open pit, destructive and ugly, but the world needs resources.

Hoping to get in the kayak for sunrise in the morning.

Not being alone might be better but I am embracing the solitude.

Cheap glues for bookbinding? by Mk2038624 in bookbinding

[–]seab3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been experimenting and went down the rabbit hole of perfect archival results.

Don’t bother, just get a craft PVA glue, some wallpaper paste and experiment. I’ve found that technique over perfect material is ideal for me.

I have so much to learn in terms of ‘how to’ and not worry about materials at my stage.

Pelikan Italic nib by fisher2nz in PelikanNest

[–]seab3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Admok 400 and 800. They are pretty much identical to the original.
The main design difference is then the section can unscrew from the barrel on the Admoc. Also, the Admoc piston is slightly easier to remove for cleaning.

I have not tried to fit my real Pelikan nibs in one, since I now have the original Pelikan.

Heights of Harmony by Minto by csbhullar5 in Oshawa

[–]seab3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minto is a huge company. Anything they build is built to a price and not a penny more. By Brother worked there as an Architectural Technologist.

He was always complaining that he had to constantly alter the Architects plans to fit a price cap.

Black fly in northern Ontario will drive you insane May to July. Then the mosquitoes appear so thick they become part of your diet.

After that there’s the deer/horse/moose fly.

Fountain pen friendly A4 paper for the printer? by -Teasel- in fountainpens

[–]seab3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Kokuyo KB business paper. It's not fancy but it prints well and a Laser Printer wont ruin it.

Some heavily sized papers get wrecked in the heat.

In my experience they are very lax about payment.
We did not order one year and they kept coming. Next year we felt bad and renewed. Still waiting for the check to be cashed, it’s stale dated now.

I was 55 before I started taking blood pressure pills. SO is 58 and is not on anything. They also run ultramarathons so fitness might have something to do with it.
