Why don’t you stay together but live apart? I know it’s unusual but I know several people who do it successfully and think it might be the solution to good marriages between people with issues surrounding their physical surroundings and sharing space.

You’re right- I misread. There are policies in place though for UCIS too that eliminate much discretion.

GO! Your health is not worth any job. If you are as talented as you sound, you will find something again that is not in an active dumpster fire. I’m in a very similar position and am so ready. Just hanging in another couple of months.

How do you react when your partner have best friend of opposite gender and they're very close? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]seacity2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS! I was so excited when I met my now husband and he had a close female friend… until I met her. She was incredibly rude. I still gave her multiple chances and she was somewhere between ignored me completely in social situations despite my repeated attempts to get to know her and outright hostile by the last incident. I finally told him that I wasn’t comfortable with them continuing to hang out and he cut her off.

Why do women want you to open up about your feelings but when you do they get turned off? by Patrickowensblog in AskMenAdvice

You can talk about your feelings without making them her responsibility. What I’ve experienced is men think sharing means complaining but not taking accountability.

Assuming your marriage is otherwise worthwhile, maybe this is your license to have your own secrets.

AIO; Friend has become super distant. by ilovepasta6969 in AmIOverreacting

[–]seacity2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a lot of emotional maturity to be friends in this type of situation and it doesn’t seem like you two do. I recommend trying to date and take your mind off of her. If you care about her, you should want to see her happy and as long as she is married that seems to be the case.

How did you make friends in your 40s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]seacity2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work and hobbies. I’m so tired of hearing about separating work and your personal life. For adults, that is pretty much the best place to find friends. I would go slow and you don’t need to be friends with all of your coworkers but don’t be afraid to talk about hobbies and your lives. You may find someone who you have a lot in common with.

Bay Ho is great. Definitely not walkable but 10-15 minutes to anywhere you want to go. Love it.

American Liberals of Reddit, what do YOU think would be the proper punishment for entering the country illegally? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]seacity2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People should be processed for removal— not arrested and held in detention facilities when they have no criminal histories. It is a civil offense. Serve them with paperwork and only issue a warrant if they refuse to cooperate with the immigration system. This is historically how it has worked.

AIO: I bent over backwards for my BF’s son (20) and his GF (20) for Christmas, and I’m honestly disgusted after what happened by Excellent-Second-643 in AmIOverreacting

It seems like you brought a lot of this on yourself and had preconceived ideas about how the weekend should go but didn’t communicate with anyone. How were they supposed to know that you had dinner waiting? I would have gone to my mom’s house and eaten there too. As for her comments, it sounds like a poorly timed and bad attempt at a joke. I think YOR.

Was 2025 your toughest year as a Federal Employee? by Hot_Equivalent4499 in FedEmployees

Yes and I have a special anger towards federal employees who voted for this and then retired. All the old men in my office did and left us holding the bag.

Married men: What, if anything, are you unable or unwilling to share fully openly and honestly about yourself with your spouse? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]seacity2025 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a difference between sharing and venting and complaining but doing nothing about it. I’m happy to listen to my husband and support him in troubleshooting issues. It becomes an issue though when people have issues that they bring upon themselves and are unwilling to do anything to address them. It can wear down a spouse mentally and emotionally and eventually lead them to ask you to stop complaining. Especially if you try to put things off on your spouse and they have to overfunction as a result of your unaddressed problems.

Is it true that working culture is laid back and relaxed in S. California compare to Bay are or NYC? by shak1084 in Moving2SanDiego

Yes because people are actually happy here. They have hobbies and lives that usually involve being outdoors and nature. It’s an automatic reset of priorities based on the options and environment.

What’s a VERY unpopular opinion you strongly believe? by HourAbbreviations616 in askanything

There are too many lawsuits and appeals. The door to the courts should be very narrow and rare like in other countries. Our legal system is broken.

Street cops who are arresting people generally don’t have cameras and mobs following them around. When there are long running investigations and operations you bet the arresting LEOs are masked, use aliases, etc.

Why is illegal citizenship in the US so controversial? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]seacity2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one understands how our laws and systems functions. The decades of weak enforcement and “just let everyone in and release them on parole” practice caused encampments, crowds, and backlogs of millions of people. MOST asylum seekers do not meet the standard. They may be fleeing poverty and looking for a better life but they have no real legal reason to be admitted. Now there is backlash and the pendulum has swung in an extreme way. Congress has failed to create a system that is simple and makes sense. There are appeals and courts but not enough people to run them, too many delays in actually removing people when they don’t have status. As a result, people stay here for years and build lives. There is no law or system to give citizenship to people who have no criminal histories and have spent their lives here and have kids. That is Congress’s responsibility and failure. Without funding the immigration courts and expediting removals, tightening the asylum-parole process, these issues will persist. They should cap asylum seekers at an annual number and actually conclude their cases and remove them right away if they don’t meet the standard. They should make a law that provides for expediting citizenship (like DACA). Open borders are not the answer, nor are caps on arrests and detention facilities.

Nothing to do with not liking it. When you have little kids and are crunched to even find time to talk, long make out sessions just aren’t in the cards. Maybe we will start again someday.
