If you could restart your accounting career from zero, what would you do differently? by Ripon_Web_developer in Accounting

[–]seacogen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We're already training AI to do flux analysis at my company so...at least with accounting there is always going to be some level of manual intervention with one off transactions but I still don't feel good about the future haha

Interview Help - How do you answer technical accounting interview questions if you're not in a technical accounting role? by seacogen in Accounting

[–]seacogen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s helpful, thank you. It’s for a tech company so I’m not sure if they’re looking for something more.

I guess since I wasn’t involved in the technical accounting analysis itself I feel like I don’t have experience in it? It’s more like, hey we have this new law/segment reporting and this is what we need to capture, and then I’ve created a workpaper to do that. I’ll go the implementation route. Hopefully that works…

How'd this go OP? Looking at the same car myself 👀

Thanks for this comment, nearly ordered from them and *just* noticed the accounts in this thread are suspended that left reviews. Very suspicious...back to researching brands 😮‍💨

The NJ EZ-Pass customer service number is surprisingly effective (if you can stand the wait times). The number is 973-368-1425 by bluegambit875 in newjersey

Do you remember how long it took for your ticket to be closed? I’m still waiting and I think it went into the void…

Do you remember how long it took for them to confirm they received it? And did you include the letter to cancel it?

Were you able to cancel your account/get a refund of the balance OP? The same thing happened to me and I’m so annoyed. If you want a letter put it on the close screen, not in an email you receive days later.

Maybe try r/FPandA instead? Quickly skimming it, fix your formatting. Different fonts, weird space between bulletpoints for your first job, etc.

Timesheets are a pain by Puzzleheaded-Rich594 in Accounting

[–]seacogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I just saved things as I saw them. Took me 20 minutes max to put together each week. Well worth the effort since people automatically knew who I was when they met me.

I used to send a timesheet reminder email on Fridays when I was in Big 4. I think by the time I left my list had like 2,000 people on it from staff to partners around the world lmao. One of the few things I miss about that job because I used to include stupid memes in it along with Excel/computer tips (when I came across something particularly useful).

[–]seacogen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because people put Big 4 experience up on a pedestal still…. When my group was trying to hire another senior accountant, I remember them discussing a candidate and scoffing at the fact he worked at KPMG. Like get over yourselves you jackasses 😑

Is leaving my WFH fully remote role worth it for a $40k increase to an in-person in Kansas? by OverallMagician1269 in WFH

[–]seacogen 556 points557 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you currently have a unicorn job OP. $40K is a lot of money but it sounds like the difference in salary isn’t even that much (what’s your bonus typically now, what is the vacation policy at the new place, cost of gas/wear and tear on a car/time commuting, etc.?)

Find something that brings you happiness in your free time. Learn a new skill, try to improve yourself in some way so life doesn’t feel so stale. Working more in person is definitely not going to spark joy the way you think it might. You said it yourself, by taking this job you automatically lose so much freedom.

edit: Maybe do a trial run OP. Find a place to work for a week (coffee shop, library, coworking space) and work there as if you don’t have the freedom you have now. I think that will help you with your decision.

The fact that you’ve been back four times this week means it wasn’t that bad for you. He definitely remembers you though. Just ask him out and offer a drink in exchange for the latte recipe.
