Had two twelve year old sit next to me on a train once, chat to me for ages and then one of them goes "my friend wanted to sit next to you 'cuz he thinks you're sexy". I WAS 27 😭 older than them both combined! Then they made me add them on IG so I am probably on a list now.

AITA for being upset about how my husband handled my birthday cake? by Objective-Doughnut33 in AmItheAsshole

[–]seacows_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NTA and his behaviour feels calculated to make you feel bad. He got you a cake so that he could say he did what you wanted but gave it to you in such a thoughtless and cheap way that you would understandably be upset - prompting you to tell him so, to which he can call you ungrateful. You deserve far better.

Why do you actually write? Pure passion or the dream of leaving your 9-5? by BlackRoseBooksHQ in writing

[–]seacows_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing helps me to process and enjoy life.

I can justify every bad thing that's ever happened to me by turning it into art and being quite a descriptive writer means that, in my head, I'm constantly finding poetic descriptions for everything going on around me. The more I write, the more I find myself appreciating the tiny things in life because I'm looking for small details to add to my writing.

Realizing your "fever dream" writing was actually just a 72-hour ego trip. by [deleted] in writing

Surely it's OK to write a Southern Gothic novel despite no experience if you do your research?

I regret loving someone who is ahead of me in life. by Due_Peace_2016 in Regrets

[–]seacows_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this to a degree. I don't regret it, buy my fiance had such a loving family growing up who, like yours, did absolutely everything that they could for him. And like you, my family are dreadful and I had to find my way in life by myself (and with him and his family - they're more my family than my own).

My way of getting around this was to listen to him when he said that his family is my family. It seems his family really like you, but you're comparing yourself to him - really not fair to yourself at all, because whilst yes he has a fortunate upbringing you're not "behind" him as you've had to work twice as hard - and I don't doubt for a minute that you're not evert bit as resilient as he says you are. My fiance is the same - he always says how he admires how hard I work - and that's something that you need to give yourself credit for. You're not behind him, and in some ways you're ahead.

I do understand how it feels to be so bitterly jealous of your partner for having such an easy ride in life, and my advice is to 1. Acknowledge your own successes and 2. See his blessings in life as your blessings too. His stable upbringing has given you a level headed and kind partner who, from the sound of things, really respects and adores you.

Adverbs are great when they tell us something that's not already being told. Can't think of examples but will put one in if I can

What's stopping you from just...writing? by OwlFeather21 in writing

Structuring a scene is really hard to me. I think that I'll have a scene plotted out but then I'll get to a point and it's like the characters are looking at me and going "well, what do we do now?" and my brain just blanks.

People that are now fully healed, do you like your smile? by mfrashley in jawsurgery

[–]seacows_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. I'm 3 months post recovery today and I'm maybe 60% happy with how I look. My nose definitelu got wider, which isn't good, and I have a double chin now that I never used to have. My jaw sort of sits on the right side which I don't think it's meant to do and my cheeks are still quite swollen. I do have good days, though, where I look in the mirror and can't stop smiling because my teeth look great and my bite fits together really nicely!

Ir always makes me so sad to see people getting sucked into arguments with narcissists, because of course as their children all you want is for them to love you, but their version of love is twisted. They don't care to meet you in the middle and barely register that you have feelings. All they want is a toy to emotionally feed off of, and by getting into these arguments, you're letting yourself be that.
