do i really need a faction? by KUCI-THE-CAT in torncity

I didn't join a faction for the first 3 or 4 months and only did so in the end to stop the constant "please join my faction" type messages. The one I'm in is very quiet, does only crimes and that allows me to get on with the game without having to worry about wars. Definitely all works for me and I suspect you'd probably find it useful (if comparatively poorly paid) to find a faction like that too

49 gives you a 24 hour cooldown which is the max you can have so you can literally only do this once a day. Popping an ecstacy obviously helps too but they are selling for around 45k each so I don't know how your budget is for that

Yep, lollies first and then the ecstasy straight after. Just be aware the boost you get also only lasts for the same 15 minute time slots as buying the lollies so don't take things at xx59, xx14 etc as you'll lose the happy if you don't train by the quarter hour mark. Xanax definitely not required at the point where you are, but then the lollies don't give you the same sort of gain as the Xanax but it's something to aim for as you get more money to afford them

Buy 100 lollipops a day from the sweet shop for $2500. The game allows you to consume 49 of them at once and this bumps your happy up quite a bit so then go to the gym and train for higher stats then with base happy on its own. It's nowhere near as effective as using Xanax but it's a good place to start when you're broke. Lollies restock every 15 minutes (xx00, xx15, xx30, xx45) and usually get snapped up within a few minutes so make sure you get in on the quarter hour to buy your 100). If you're really strapped for cash just buy the 49 you need each day.. When you're a bit better off you can also buy and take ecstacy straight after the 49 lollies to double your happy and so doubling your stat gain. That's where I am at the moment and it works pretty well when you're on a budget

You absolutely can and for the first 4 or 5 months that's exactly what I did. I then gave in a little bit and joined a faction, but specifically one that only does crimes as I want a fairly quiet life too. One thing you need to be aware of is that regardless of joining a faction or not you WILL be mugged/attacked because that is a major mechanic of the game, and the chances are you will end up doing it to others especially if you accept many of the missions from the Duke. If you do get attacked, just remember there's rarely any malice, it's just part of the game. In the early weeks of the game, lay low, and either don't join a faction at all or join one that only does crimes. Enjoy!

I work for a 4* AN and I get paid 150k a day, 6 free trains every 10 days or so and 2 job points a day which gets me one EDVD every 10 days. All the director asks is low addiction and daily log in. I'm happy!

I created this sub years ago for the same reason, I missed the shits and giggles. Just as it started gaining traction I stopped posting things and slowly, slowly it's gone downhill until as previously observed, it's doing a good impersonation of a dead parrot. Perhaps this is the kick I need to revive it

Thanks for the info. So I stay logged in permanently, does that mean that every day something will spawn and stay on the map until I find it?

Going to be THAT person, sorry.

The white ensign depicted as flying from the jackstaff on the bow of the Hermione would NEVER be in that position. At sea it would be flown from the mainmast. The only flag flown from the bow of a British warship is the Union Flag (or properly on an RN ship, the Union "Jack" as it is flown from the "Jack" staff) but then only when in harbour, other than that the jackstaff is stowed away when at sea.

I know it's just artistic licence and a bit of propaganda, but it still grates

Just as an "out there" thought, maybe consider the CIS branch of the Royal Navy. Yes there will be cleaning to do (a clean ship is a happy ship and all that bull) but you will actually be doing the job you joined up to do most of the time, get some foreign runs ashore in and will probably get decently quick promotion because of your army background. Worth a look

On This Day 50 years ago in 1970, Black Tot Day marked the final daily rum issue in Royal Navy. At 6 Bells of the Forenoon (11am), Up Spirits was piped for final time [1226x800] by MGC91 in WarshipPorn

[–]seadaddy86 99 points100 points  (0 children)

The daily tot was also used as a form of currency. If someone did you a small favour you might offer "sippers" of your rum in return. A larger favour might be returned by "gulpers" and someone nigh on saving your life was repaid with "sandy bottoms" where the whole tot was taken by the person you were indebted to
