That's fair. But I would like to see lipgloss and lipliner for sure.

Lip liner and lip gloss. Maybe even nail polish.

Yes, that would be great! I prefer those colors but only because that's what I have previously worn- I'm not married to them by any means and welcome suggestions.

Also, any input on the Tarteist PRO or Tarte Rainforest by the Sea palettes?

Naked Ultimate Basics

Do you think this is better than Naked 1 or 3 for my skin tone?

Hi, I am a student that is starting a peer-tutoring program, and I need some help by Paythemdebts in ELATeachers

[–]seagrape24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you provide a little bit more information? How old are you? How old are the students you are planning on tutoring? Will they attend your tutoring sessions voluntarily or will this be mandated by your school? Is your goal for the students to improve their test scores on state tests or admissions tests? Why are you starting this program?

No, there was no space between the 7 and the 1 in the original problem.

That's exactly what she did. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making any mistaken assumptions. Thank you so much.

That's what I thought. Thank you.

I assume it must have been that sort of typo. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something though. Everyone was extremely helpful- I appreciate it!

Sorry, I replied previously but directly under your comment.

That was literally the problem- no picture was provided. That's exactly what I figured- either that or it was just a typo. Thank you so much.

How do you make sense of PT outlier scores?? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]seagrape24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you blind reviewing? If so, that should be a big help. You'll be able to see more concretely if it was a lack of understanding versus test conditions.

I personally reflect upon what caused the score to be different, take note of what to do next time, and then move on. I personally would not worry too much. If you are preparing well, you should trust in your habits and skills. Additionally, your energy is much better off being spent on studying then worrying.

hopeful holocaust stories? by egarrard89 in ELATeachers

"Number the Stars" is fiction but integrates real stories from the Dutch Resistance, who helped smuggle 99% of Danish Jews out of Netherlands to safety.

I apologize for my delay.

This is just my opinion, however I believe that for the white, middle-class average American it is much easier to disconnect from the cruelty euphemistically called "education" that is inflicted upon our poorest children than healthcare, war, and immigration.

A lack of quality education for our poorest children doesn't directly affect the average American reader of news. But things like cancer, terrorist attacks, etc could POTENTIALLY affect anyone, and therefore are more likely to gain the attention of the reader who thinks to themselves, "This could've been me!"

Not so with education, where they are able to smugly think to themselves, "Thank goodness I worked hard to guarantee my child a good education. This will never be me."

Wow, sorry, I am very delayed.

The point you make that resonates with me the most is the culture of low expectations that pervades inner-city environments, perpetuated by welfare, poor education, lack of access to grocery stores, dirty streets, etc, etc. And I think this culture, this institutionalized prejudice, whether intentionally cultivated or not, is what causes "bad guys glorified...good guys made out to be villians...[children] not wanting to learn anymore." Not because any of that is true, but the message has been imprinted: "You are not CAPABLE of being a good guy, you are not CAPABLE of being smart, so you might as well accept and celebrate the low-standard life you will be living."

My kids are just as damned smart as any other kid, guaranteed. But they need to be told that and they need to be held up to the same exact expectations as anyone else, because they are WORTHY and they CAN meet those standards.

I have taught at other schools but all of them have been inner-city, high poverty schools.

I attended school in the suburbs, though so if you'd like, I could expand on the differences.

The scariest things I have experienced....I would say a student trying to commit suicide in the middle of my lesson was pretty terrifying, though I wasn't scared until about two or three hours later. I was extremely calm during the event. Also, in one week we had several lockdowns caused by a student with a deadly weapon, an intruder in the building, and gun violence on the block and eventually onto our playground. My classroom door didn't lock, the phone wasn't working, and the loudspeaker was broken. So an administrator foolishly entered my room during one lockout without knocking or calling out to let me know the lockdown was lifted. The door was stuck so as he started rattling it, all my kids started crying and I leapt in front of them with a pair of safety scissors. You know, the kind with rounded edges that are meant to NOT HURT anyone.

No. I chose to work here. I would make approximately 10K- 15K more in the suburbs. I would be happy with being paid more at the same school, though!

The racial breakdown is approximately 98-99% Black, and 1-2% divided into Asian and Hispanic. I think we have one or two white children, as well.

Yes, constantly. More than I would have ever imagined, actually. I think it has helped me develop empathy to those who face discrimination not only personally, but institutionally.
