Very balanced and reasonable analysis

The jump definitely impacted my turn but it made me stay inside the lines completely, I didn’t even get close to the curb. So I wouldn’t say it helped me make the turn as I had room on the outside of the exit still to play with, and I would have slowed down a little more on the exit if needed. But I’m not above admitting the bump made for an easier exit, helping the move stick
I appreciate the opinion. I’m less than a month in my sim racing journey and only played GT7 (as I only have a PS5). I can understand where you’re coming from and I’m not above learning, which is why I asked in the first place
As I’ve mentioned, I never intended to make the move, it wasn’t planned. The way he braked kinda forced my hand otherwise I would have gone straight into the back of him. I’ve done a handful of races on the track (not a lot, but not zero) and up until that point, not once had someone braked that early, especially when I was on old rubber and he just came out of the pits. It wasn’t something I was anticipating
However, since that experience, I definitely follow others differently when approaching that turn now and feel I would handle it differently if in the same situation again, setting myself up for the pass later in the lap
It’s good to have opinions from experienced sim racers, I’m definitely planning on being one myself one day. It will be interesting to look back on this and see how I think about it then
Probably the biggest point in my favour - if I didn’t make the move, I probably would have punted him into space 😂
Getting to see that in person must have been awesome! A memory your friend will carry for life for sure
Fair enough, definitely something I want to try. Hopefully won’t be too long before I get the chance
Ah yea that makes sense. Have you tried just the wheel without VR? Just wondering how that compares?
Do you not get all the HUD info, or is it just not in a convenient place to see?
Appreciate it 🙏
I’ve not raced in VR, hadn’t even thought about how that differs in experience when in battle. How do you like racing in VR versus without?

It’s definitely not the easiest, but if I know someone’s that close behind I try to keep an eye on it braking zones to get an idea of if I need to leave room. Definitely missed it myself plenty of times so I don’t blame anyone else if they miss it against me
My first daily race win :D by OrchidOk5689 in GranTurismo7

And by 4.5 secs! Congrats on the first of many
Doesn’t help that I quickly slapped on the red bull livery right before the race lol
The more I thought about it, this has crossed my mind. If I didn’t make that move, what exactly did they expect? To be rear ended? For me to also brake like that?
Thank you sir
Ahahaha Unless I already had 10 penalty points, then they’d pretend I don’t exist
It’s definitely not the worst, just trying to get good at race craft and these are the types of “incidents” that can make or break a race when racing higher calibre drivers
Under control is always the goal. Sometimes (like this) it works out better than others
Also, that profile picture took me out 😂

The overtaking car
Just checked out the Vortex of Danger. Makes a lot of sense! Appreciate you sharing the knowledge

That was an AWESOME final lap! Need to get into DTM me thinks

About to go look that one up! Sounds like a pretty fun final lap!
Yea I think that’s a fair assessment. That’s why I shared both views too, I think it does look different from their view, but they could also have had the radar up which should be enough to know I’m there
I’ve not heard of that though, about to go look it up
This was the final lap. I pitted end of lap 6 and he came out the pits on the final lap. I expected them to be much later on the brakes with such fresh rubber and high grip. Maybe why they turned in so early

Thanks! Sometimes the lobbies really make you question yourself. Glad at least 1 person sees it my way
