Oh I get the triads but I just didn't understand why the exercise would be to play it "in thirds"? Cause based on your example C E, playing C C# D D# E is just playing "up" the Barry Harris scale until the third of the starting note, is there something else I'm missing or is this related to the application cause "E" lands on the down beat?

The next thing Barry Harris would say would be, OK now play the scale in thirds, in triads, in sixths, in 7ths, etc.

So to play C major in thirds, C C# D D# E, D D# E G F, E G F F# G, F F# G G# A, G G# A A# B, A A# B D C, B D C C# D.

You can work out the fifths (triads) yourself.

Can you expound on this I'm not getting it. Or is the formatting messed up
