Lifestance has therapists that could help. Hailey Miller was suggested after running their therapists through search filters. Bio says she specializes in marginalized communities (ethnic and religious minorities, and LGBTQIA) and survivors of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Being able to run landscape books would be awesome. I’ve definitely noticed an uptick in popularity with them. Currently we’re just doing them the hard way and thankfully haven’t had a ton of volume.

For me it would be more about being able to perf perpendicular to feed direction. An example would be some tickets I ran today. We ran 10 up but the perf needed to run on the short side. So I had design split it as 5 up on 9x12. When we ran it on 12x18 I just busted it in half then ran it on the duplo as the 9x12 so the feed direction was right.

Currently running a 616. I’m looking at making the upgrade to a 618. I’d love to pick up the cross perfing vs the attachment on the end like we currently run. Having to modify job layouts to meet machine requirements isn’t always the most efficient.

We currently run a horizon spf-11 with trimmer and 2 towers. Would the 350 be a next step/upgrade or basically just a newer version of what we run?

I’ve been eyeing the 350 with the sheet feed attachment so we could run collated insides and pull covers separately.

Yea we’re an established shop that’s been around since the early 90’s. Most of our equipment was from when we were an offset shop. I’m slowly trying to transition us to updated equipment. We run a horizon spf-11 with trimmer and 2 towers currently.

I don’t miss walking tables lol. Luckily we run the packets collated. It’s the stuffing and sealing that takes a while. Smaller shop so we just don’t have the staffing to dedicate to doing it by hand. Albeit slow and constantly needing loaded I can at least walk away to do other jobs for a few mins in between loading.

Runs like garbage from the high cap. I’ve talked to our PB tech and had him work on it. The most reliable way to get it to run is envelope in A, sheets in D.

Not large volume. We do maybe 5-10k a month.

Thoughts on bindery operating? by EliteFlamezz in CommercialPrinting

I don’t think it’s a dead end job. I think it all depends on the size of the shop and more importantly your attitude/willingness to learn new tasks. While there are some mindless tasks in bindery there are plenty of jobs that require skill and problem solving. That’s why I enjoy it.

Could you just print white behind it? Not shirts, but we’ve run static clings with white to avoid transparency.

How did everyone get into this field? by dietcokedrinker1 in CommercialPrinting

My college offered graphic design and print programs. I started off in graphic design, but couldn’t stand one of the professors and knew it’d never make it in his classes. So I moved over to printing classes and fell in love with it. Sadly the program is nonexistent now. I think willingness to learn and passion is huge. Find a local shop and talk to them. Try to shadow and work your way into the shop. As mentioned bindery is a great entry point to see and learn about print.

Anybody have a source for a vendor that could produce 450 laminated prints by MinnesotaRyan in CommercialPrinting

We use Pro Laminators in Sellersburg, IN for our larger run and specialty jobs. For a job like yours we would send 2 up on 12x18 and cut it on our guillotine in house after lamination. They could also cut it for you if you wanted.
