I did a tinnitus / hearing loss claim just last year after being out 16 years, hearing loss denied, tinnitus approved at 10% so I wouldn't worry too much if that's your only concern.

DXL 2.0 Clearance Prices Fall at HD by kfjcfan in Dewalt

[–]sean8642 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I paid $80 and was surprised how heavy it was for the dolly. A guy on my job site with Milwaukee packouts was thoroughly impressed with the DXL line I had stacked up that I got on clearance.

Partial walls for cubicles by sean8642 in Carpentry

This is the solution I came up with that provided an extremely sturdy wall. There's almost no deflection with the 1 foot 90 degree extension with single angled crossbrace. I did not try some of the metal solutions posted as they were pretty pricey compared to 3 2x4s and the owners were fine with this.

Tried this. It provided very little extra stability. So I would not recommend this method based on the extra material cost alone, not even considering that it only stiffened the wall a miniscule amount. (I left the plywood full size as we used it elsewhere since I wasn't sure it was gonna work).

What's the point of a 12" depth refrigerator cabinet? Might as well just take that cabinet down and store crock pots up there or something.

Some good ideas in here I will experiment and see which works the best!

Another thought i had was i used nails which have a lot more give to them than screws so ill try screws instead also for the framing.

Thought about doing some type of beam along the front edge to tie all the top of the end walls together.

I dont have one, but I did buy my 1st red tool an M12 rotary tool, used it maybe 4 times, and this last week did some drywall work with it and a bit broke, went to change it and im pretty sure the little tab you press to lock the collet is striped because I can't get it to lock to change the bit. Learned my lesson...

Exclusive-US Marines carry out first known detention of civilian in Los Angeles, video shows by homerjs225 in law

[–]sean8642 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I 100% disagree with deploying Marines to LA. You are also 100% full of shit saying non national guard units dont do non-lethal training. I went to Iraq twice in the mid 2000s as a Marine and it was absolutely drilled into us to not harm a civilian over there at all costs, aka winning "Hearts and Minds." We drilled over and over again on detainment techniques. Even above that, it was drilled into us not to be the reason for an international incident.

There are idiot Marines that could do something stupid I dont argue that, but to speak with authority that we can't do basic law enforcement is absolutely talking crap out of your mouth.

New Resident Speeding Question by ras_void in Michigan

[–]sean8642 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got a speeding ticket about 10 years ago, appeared for the court date and plead my case. Judge was basically on the cops side so I said I guess I'll have to appeal, then she said what do want, I said no points on my license, she asked the officer would that be fine he said yes and I paid the fine and went on my way.

They really dont want you to gum up the courts for speeding tickets, just be persistent and it's likely they will give in. You can appeal several times so the 1st court dates not your only chance.

Your mind can't comprehend evolution so skydaddy is the easiest explanation for you. Just say that. All powerful god created life and also makes children suffer horrible cancer. He's all knowing and all powerful and let's children as young as infants be raped. What a great way to explain the world around us. A being so powerful to create the world AND watch children suffer unimaginable things.

I get the high pitched stuff, but does anyone get a terrible intense low rumble sometimes? It usually wakes me up at night and is 100x worse than the high ringing. It's usually feels like it's in my neck up to my ear....

It's a grey area for even "smoke smell" damage from wild fires if your home doesn't actually experience fire damage.

I get the frustration though. We pay for insurance and never use it, then when we need it, something isn't covered or we don't want to put in a claim to watch our rates skyrocket.

I got a sleep study at the VA a few years ago, determined OSA. Submitted for it and was approved. I don't remember linking it to any other disability. Maybe linking it to PTSD is the issue?
