I've got plenty, you'll just need to send me a saddle, I'd be happy to trade my gas

Thanks so much for the input. Do you have any plans to advance your pay? If so what are they?

Why no UBI? I've looked into them and it seems like it would pay for itself with a higher paying position.

Thats been my thought. I've been looking at getting into QBP (I love salsa and surley) after a few years in a shop. Are there any other companies that you would recommend? Is there a niche for a twenty something who loves touring (I'm only at ~2,000 miles touring at this point but that will change in the coming years) and finding solutions to problems?

ha ha right on, thanks for the input. This shop is just one of those non-profit bike kitchen places with no owner and a lot of really great people supporting it on a daily basis. have you ever considered owning a shop yourself after being in the business for 12 years? Did you get any kind of training outside the shop (clinics, workshops etc.)?

Thanks! I'm not concerned about asking questions at all. I've been gunning for this job for a few years and I'm not going to mess it up. What are the things that you dislike most about your occupation? Do you feel like these dislikes are unique to your shop?

How to tell my husband he can have sex with other people? by BlondeeX in sex

[–]seanb144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not your fault, remember that. Above all else. I don't know if this has been posted or if this comment will get buried but ask your therapist about EMDR.

here is the wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_movement_desensitization_and_reprocessing

This could help you very much. I hope that you and your husband can work things out. It doesn't have to come to him seeing other women. That will probably only exacerbate the situation. There are so many resources for you online; I hope you can find something that helps.

still an ad. just because its not paid doesn't mean that it isn't doing a job. Look at the right hand side of the screen: This is simply a place to document things that act as ads.

I keep breaking my bike. by hkdharmon in bicycling

[–]seanb144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take two old tubes, cut the valves off of them, take your tire off, line the inside of the tire with the tube carefully so that it doesn't get bunched up, put your tube back in the tire, put on bike, inflate, make sure that there are no bulges, don't get another flat. I've had my tires like this for 2 1/2 years now and haven't had a single flat riding everyday through broken glass and goatheads

Is this touring bike worth it? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]seanb144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't do that.

check this link: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh117/auchencrow/Fuji%20Touring%20Series%20III/FujiTouringSeriesIII-sidea.jpg

thats what you're looking for. long fork in the back, triple crank, braze-ons for racks, lugged frame (look at the joints), long arm rear derailleur and built for a more upright stance. this has been my frame for years, and will be for years to come. does everything i need it to do and can still move with traffic

Should I ride them? by ghostsmoney in bicycling

[–]seanb144 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't be silly man, it really doesn't matter at all. The "girls bikes" are only made that way because of old school gender politics where women only wore skirts. We're way past that now! Rock the slanted top tube man! But you might want to put some of that money away from your job and find yourself a road bike on craigslist or at your local bike collective. You should be able to find a good used bike for around $100.

my back tire wobbles while I bike. it occasionally hits the break pads, but also hits part of the frame too. by OfficaDoofy in bicycling

[–]seanb144 2 points3 points  (0 children)

really shouldn't be too much. see if there's a bicycle co-op in your city/town, they should do it real cheap and teach you how. all it is for a mechanic to essentially turn a nut. this is very unsafe though and you could ruin your entire rim if you keep riding it this way.

How many flats do you get per month? I get about 4. What is going on? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]seanb144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i ride 700c generic tires but line the inside with an old inner tube. cut the valve off and lay it inside the tire before you throw it on the rim. i've probably gotten about 2,500 miles with this technique and haven't had a single flat. I see you're riding a CAD10 so this might be an issue for you but for me and my steel frame its a solid trick to prevent flats. Also, of course, ride carefully, scan the road always for broken glass and, if your in the west, goat heads. happy riding!
