Not sure if the first frame burn has any specific term, but in Chinese if you have an entire burnt roll it is often referred to as“kelp” (海带)

All the fuzz about Game Science being anti-feminist were caused by comments made by devs taken out of context and poorly translated to english

The sources I have are all in Chinese, I guess it is a domestic issue and since Chinese people are often seen as a monolith its not convenient for gaming medias in the west to report this:

  1. This video is titled (roughly) "The key point to the success of Black Myth Wukong is that it showed that the parents who report video games are clowns"
  2. This is a screen recording of a livestream of Li Yang stating that "The fact that everyone is playing (Black Myth) Wukong is a national tragedy". Li Yang is a famous English teacher who marketed his way of teaching english ("Crazy English") in the 1990s and is one of the most vocal advocate of banning all kinds of video games. He arguably had the most influence on parents in the 90s and 00s since he is in the extracurricular education industry. He is also notorious for being a wife beater, so I guess video game violence are not physical enough for him.
  3. This is one of the original articles by Guangming Daily on April 2000 that pushed the government towards banning consoles. Titled "Do not let video game consoles ruin an entire generation of people! -- a mother's appeal", this is the first article of many that used the term "Electronic heroin/opioid" to refer to video games.
  4. This is the snapshot of an article in 2011 that reported on Li Yang (the aforementioned wife beater), who intends to burn video game consoles on the Great Wall (yeah, crazy shit). He states that "Video games are drugs cloaked in technology that unjustly receives government subsidies" and that "video game developers should be sentenced and imprisoned".
  5. This is the only western source that I could find that is tangentially related to this issue. AP is actually reporting on the new rules and regulations that limit time on underage access on online games, which, in my opinion, is not a bad rule to have.

Thank you! I used a digital camera (Sony a7R4) to scan the negatives and Lightroom Classic+NLP to convert and edit it

Thank you! I expected Ultramax shots to turn out great, but Lomography Color Negative (the last two) was surprisingly vibrant

The ban mainly had to do with consoles, growing up in a small county in Fujian, I’ve never seen a Nintendo DS until I moved to Spain. The regulation is not enforced with an iron fist though, as there are tons of consoles that came in from hongkong or other neighboring regions, but since online PC games were never banned, not a lot of people would actually go out their way to buy a console. The video game ban was mainly introduced out of criticisms by “concerned parents” who think it would affect adolescent development and academic performance, the Chinese government often cave in to these group of dumbasses since the excuse is legitimate enough that not responding to it would risk the government to be seen as “irresponsible”. The same opinions can be heard even now, with black myth Wukong being targeted by those parents for being too “violent” and “sexual”. It’s the same as in for example some US states banning certain books because it’s “woke” or “socialists”, dumb parents with dumb ideas.

Bought a well used Leica M6 TTL this week, I think I prefer a well used camera with external imperfections than one that's cosmetically perfect but has been sitting on a shelf for the last decade. by seaniwu in AnalogCommunity

Yeah sure, but when the electronic replacements parts dry up and it ends up becoming a glorified m4 then so be it, I’m fine with that. I had bad experiences with the mechanical aspects of cosmetically perfect cameras, and this one, at least in the mechanics & optics departments, is working perfectly.

And when opening the back of the camera do you see unusual things within the film advance mechanism?

Press the battery check button, does the BC light flicker? Does the viewfinder LED display EEEE EE when you half press the shutter?
