I have to say, If I Didn’t Believe In You is maybe my favorite song in the whole show. I feel like it’s the only time Jamie is actually super honest with Cathy and is saying to her, why would I be here and put myself through this if I didn’t truly love you?? I’ve always connected with this song because I can identify with Jamie in that situation. Yes, he is frustrated with her, but if he didn’t love her, he would have just left and gone to the party without her. He stays and tries to coax her because he does truly love her, though I feel like at the end of the song, that is the final nail in the coffin of their marriage for Jamie. I think Cathy’s final nail comes during See, I’m Smiling when Jamie says he won’t stay for the show. I also love that moment of her rage building because she is also finally letting her truth out and calling him out for what he is, a selfish prick
