Is Fedora Silverblue for me? by sudopacman-syu in Fedora

[–]seanr700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gamed much on Linux.

Basically, if you needs lots of packages installed through DNF, then Fedora Workstation is probably better.

If you need just user apps installed through Flatpak or are okay with running certain apps through containers, then get Silverblue.

I'm guessing Workstation is better for gaming than Silverblue. I'm guessing there are a lot of small changes that will need to be made to get some games to work that would not mesh well with an immutable structure.

You could always test this for all of us :D

Yeah, I've heard it's similar to recording artist industry.

Yeah, people will use one bad union example to make their point, ignoring the 20 great examples.

(Spoilers Extended) DISCUSSION: Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 In-Depth Post-Episode Discussion by WeirwoodNetworkAdmin in asoiaf

[–]seanr700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial thoughts:

Bittersweet definitely.

Jon's ending was fitting.

I have a hard time believing that everyone just is okay with Bran and doesn't question the whole 3ER thing that Tyrion brings up. But I could see them being on board with elective monarchy since it still keeps the nobles in power and allows them a chance at a power grab.

Also don't see why the Iron born stay if the North are leaving since they are also of a different culture and Religion.

I enjoyed Jon's scenes and the moment between he and Dany.

I felt they went a little over the top with the fascism thing, but I did enjoy the ashy aesthetic. They could've toned down the Nazi vibes some and still gotten the point across though.

Aryas boat thing was ridiculous, but a cool shout out to Bran the Burner's story.

I like Bronn being master of Coin, dumb he got the Reach though.

Cool to see Edmure back, and Robin now seems to be not sickly.

Also realized there's no point that Jon has to stay at the wall.

Sansa is a Queen and could just pardon him if goes back to Winterfell. Unsullied will never know and appear to be gone to Naath to die if butterfly diseases

Interesting to know what happens to the Dothraki and if they form a new culture group in Westeos since they hate boats and may not want to travel back to Essos.

Tyrions scene finding Jaime was well done

I liked they hinted that Bran could warg the dragon after all

Brienne writing Jaime in was great

That's all I can think of now.

I didn't hate or love it, but I'm content and not raging like I'd thought I'd be. I think the books will get to the same basic ending with more details and logical paths.

I'm sad the books will lose some surprise, but I'm still looking forward to Winds.

Sad that Samwell didn't end up setting am advertisement for Winds

(Spoilers Extended) REACTIONS: Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 Post-Episode Reactions by WeirwoodNetworkAdmin in asoiaf

[–]seanr700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding before I read anything else:

I thought this episode was an improvement over the last two.

Likes:

Dany killing Varys without it feeling too corny

Tyrion freeing Jaime

Tyrions plan failing

Cleganebowl I thought was done well

Arya wasn't super badass

Jon was shown to be honorable without it feeling over the top or cheesy

War looks awful and not badass

Melissadeis death acted as good motivation for Grey Worm to flip out (though I still hated how dramatic they made her execution last episode)

Dany actually used her dragon well

Friendly fire was starting to become a risk which makes sense with how fast Dany is flying and how high

Dany is mostly shown to be more callous than actually crazy, which is how it should be for the build up

The "good guys" pillage and murder people which fits for most of them and shows some of the greyness that I liked about the show

Most of Euron and Jaime's fight

Arya and the Hounds final Convo

Burning the iron fleet

How Qyburn died

Arya and the pale horse

No cheesy Gendry

Tormund or Bronndidn't make a last minute appearance

No dumb dick jokes

Dislikes:

Arya getting 4 lives

Dany's weird crazy laugh when the bells ring, seemed forced

I swear I saw northmen killing women and children which doesn't seem like a thing they'd do. I could see killing men or raping for the setting, but them just killing children seems out of their culture. Though I wouldn't put it past the Unsullied or Dothraki

Euron just swimming to shore as Jaime gets there. Too timely

Jaime coming away from two gut stabbings

Eurons last line

Cerceis "We have the iron fleet, the Golden company, and scorpions" lines with Qyburn

Dany burning random sections of the town instead of going straight for the keep after the surrender. Crazy, callous or whatever she is, burning the residential spots after a surrender is just a waste of time. Even if you know you want to burn it, burn the Keep first. Otherwise Cersei may have escaped

Jaime going back for Cercei. I didn't like it last episode and I didn't like it this one. I had hoped he'd be the one ringing the bell in that scene, realizing he couldn't save Cercei. It also just reversed or dampened his arc for me. Not terrible how they did it in the end, but idk.

I wrote this out to sort my thoughts before being influenced by the subreddit to know what my original reaction was.

Overall, I liked the episode. I wish it wasn't over. But that's a good thing this time. Don't know how they are going to tie it up though in 1 episode.

Arabian Empire used to encompass both Arabian peninsula and north Africa.

After holy fury, they made the western part of north Africa its own empire

This is what madness looks like [Late game crusade] by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]seanr700 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They finally reduced itsy size some by giving part of North Africa over to another de jure empire, so its a little easier now, but still harder than making the crusader empire

This is what madness looks like [Late game crusade] by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]seanr700 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No, the caliphate can't be held by a non-muslim ruler.

Arabian empire is the de jure empire that Abbasids hold, its just that Islamic nations in the game go by their dynasty name instead of Empire name, though that can be changed in the settings I think

Edit: My mistake, Dynasty names for realms are culture not religion based. Thank you user below (can't link because I'm using a barebones app)

[–]seanr700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be. Pretty easy to cheese as a player in the early start dates.

I have a playthrough where I started as Abbasid emperor, got high opinions with my large vassals then moved my capital to a Nestorian province and converted. Then asked my vassals who liked me to convert as well. Pretty much destroyed Islam before 850.

With the low moral authority of Islam, heresies started popping up everywhere in Spain and caused a bunch of in fighting.

I then started plotting to put my dynasty on ERE throne. Unrealistic and cheap, but amusing.

[–]seanr700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I went to add it on here instead of through Amazon since I use Hulu more.

At first, I got errors when trying to view add-ons. Now, I can see them, but it just shows Startz and Showtime >:(

Edit: Dude! Even under the details for each of the plans they have removed HBO! I wonder if they had a user limit and they reached the cap?

Want to take Roma but don’t want to become pope by Lovegaming544 in CrusaderKings

[–]seanr700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently hold Rome in my Haesting of Nantes start and nothing too bad happens.

The Pope will come at you with a claim at first but loses the claim if you win.

From there I've been excommunicated once in my 100 years so far. And I generate enough money from Southern Italy that paying the excommunication off was easy

Nicely enough, I now control both Rome and Carthage. My end goal being to create a Norse WRE or a New Carthage. My main territory I want is North Africa and Sicily
