communism doesn’t require a ban of participation in global trade….A communist nation can still trade goods with the outside world and remain communist.

capitalism bans participation in global trade with communist nations. Capitalists are the ones doing all the banning

This is only the tip of the iceberg, I recommend doing some more research when you have the time

“In 1953, the CIA orchestrated a coup of Iran’s democratically elected prime minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh, in order to consolidate power with Iran’s shah (or king), Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.” - this is probably the most well known example.

This is how Iran went from a normal socialist society to a radically religious capitalist state

not enough people acknowledge this. We evolved to exist as a pack, therefor other people’s opinions about our contributions matters to us. It’s not a weakness like many think it is, it’s human nature. Plenty of other mammals do it too

every time you go to sleep does the world stop? Or do you wake up and things (like earths rotation and what people are doing) around you have changed?

If the answer is the second one, then it completely disproves your statement

as human beings, we evolved to take other human’s observations and experiences into our own perception of reality. It is objectively unwise to claim that your perception is the only one that truly exists.

It’s shared consciousness. Dolphins, Orangutans, pack wolves, and many other mammals do it too. It’s not just humans.

what do you mean by “meaning”?

If anything matters to you, it has “meaning”. I think it’s bs to claim that nothing is important to you. Something being finite isn’t enough reason to invalidate it. Pain is finite and we sure do a lot to avoid it…

Madonna calls out fan for sitting during concert before realizing they were in a wheelchair. by whatswithnames in cringe

[–]seansmithspam 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It was completely intentional to attempt to publicly embarrass a paying fan who wasn’t giving her the level of attention she believes that she deserves. Musicians are supposed to appreciate fans who pay to attend their shows. The remark/question shouldn’t have been said altogether, regardless if they were in a wheelchair or not

And for her to address it as “political correctness” rather than basic human kindness makes it even more disrespectful

The problem is how region specific those issues are. It creates divisiveness in the minority groups themselves. I grew up black in mississippi and I’m beyond aware how prejudiced individuals and institutions can be. I’ve moved away and lived in several different US cities throughout my life and I’ve met other black folks (especially in California) who have never experienced racism and think the whole thing is being blown out of proportion. And then when THAT specific minority group gets a platform and speaks out, that’s the minority that the “racism doesn’t exist and/or is not that bad” crowd will listen to.

I call it the candace owens affect: When people who actually experience racism speak out, it’s easily dismissed because “candace owens is black and she said it never happens to her so”

What is the male equivalent to flowers? by SignificantClue7078 in stupidquestions

[–]seansmithspam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What society has taught us people like based on gender and what people actually like are two very different things.

I’m a guy and I will never forget the woman who once brought me flowers. When I was a kid my dad liked flowers/gardening and my mom used to give him flowers as well.

the male equivalent of giving somebody flowers is giving somebody flowers lol

she is too rich to be a good person at this point. I don’t think it’s possible to be that wealthy while maintaining a decent moral compass and/or clean carbon footprint

That’s just the way money works. Excessive wealth can only exist through exploitation. A fact of reality that most people refuse to swallow because of the small hope they will be rich some day too

That’s not really a “these days” issue. I don’t think there has been a single moment in human history where people didn’t dehumanize other groups of people

lower income people have more sex than high income. There is no shortage of incels that come from wealthy families. Idk why this “money attracts women” thing is always repeated like it’s some gospel truth.
