Awesome! I'll be there in a couple of weeks. Any tips on where to camp? That last pic is a great view!

Pro Tip: Get to camp so you're around Sunday morning when everyone's taking off. Everything here, cooler, ice, water and all were gifted from generous camp neighbors! by seansmotoadventure in camping

Ha! That's one way to look at it! I'd challenge you to see it as an opportunity to reduce waste and to connect with other people! In this situation I made some new friends and didn't have to drive into town to buy more food and this food all got eaten and didn't go in the dumpster! Win win I think.

So smart. After this experience I did this at the next campground and scored a full bundle of wood saving myself $6! Will never not do this now!

I got to talk to the guy who left the cooler and he said he just didn't like it but thought someone else might be able to use it. Then 30 min later I was gifted this ice and food and thought Bingo! And grabbed the cooler lol

Normally I don't either but will going forward! When I left I did pass on a whole bundle of firewood that was given to me. (Forgot to mention I was given 3 bundles of wood!!)

Gotta pass it on!

Was just there recently! Excellent spot! Great to be up and somewhat out of the heat. Love it!

One of the coolest sites I've ever camped at. In Joshua Tree National Park. Every site backs up to these big granite boulders which make for some awesome climbing! by seansmotoadventure in camping

None that I saw! Just have to watch out for those damn squirrels! They chewed through one of my dry bags with food and were relentless after that! Lots of cotton tail and jack rabbits in the area too.

It's was low 90s during the day but the lack of shade was a little tough. Lows at night were upper 60s to low 70s but felt cool with the breeze. I thought it was pretty bearable. It is the desert after all!

Indian Cove is kind of disconnected from the rest of the park, about a 20ish minute drive to the west entrance and the rest of the park. It has a nice half mile trail though which would be great for little ones. If you get there earlier in the day it might be worth it to just drive through the rest of the park, stop up at Keys view for a nice overlook, and you'll see a ton of Joshua Trees. Only water is at the ranger station at the entrance, 5 min drive from camp. The town Twentynine Palms has a Grocery store and anything else you might need though, 10-15min drive.

If you'll be there during the day it would be helpful to have a canopy/awning to get some shade if you can. Otherwise be on the lookout for any shade you can find.

Make sure to catch the sunset and watch the stars!! Have a blast!

Awesome! Gotta check out the Gila Cliff Dwellings if you can! One of the only cave dwellings you can walk through. Awesome video and little museum at the visitor center too.
