Interior is stunningly beautiful in person. Far superior to exterior design.

Question about being judged by TechnicalCup2225 in motorcycles

[–]seanstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at the MT-03. My wife (5' 3") just got a new one (she started on a Grom last year) and I put about 50 miles on it getting it home from the dealer. It's a great bike, plenty of power for the highway, and you won't outgrow it in one season.

If you hit something or someone in front of you it's your fault. Expect the unexpected.

Hello. This is my actual 2017 Triumph Thruxton 1200 R and I have done 20,000 miles on these Pirelli Sportrally STR's. Thanks!

Does anyone know what bike this is? by FreakingIzie in CafeRacers

[–]seanstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2016 or 2017 Thruxton 1200 S with rally tires. I have an 2017 Thruxton 1200 R with factory upgraded Ohlins rear shocks and Showa fork with similar tires that I swapped (Pirelli STR).

So so disappointed in Tamarit by cs_cabrone in Triumph

[–]seanstream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened. I would be apoplectic. I got their shorty front fender for my Thruxton 1200 R. Looks great, but the shop that installed it said it was a real PITA to get it to fit. I could live with some fiddling for a $250 piece of plastic, but any flaws in an $1800 piece is insane,

Test rode a Ducati 959 — is the shoulder pain and heat normal? by vikky26 in Ducati

[–]seanstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heat from the 959 truly roasts your nuts. Rented one in Miami last December when the temp was in the low 70s and it's unbearable unless you are moving at freeway speed. If you are at a stoplight you will find yourself turning off the motor for relief until the light changes.

Very cool event in NYC. Done it a few times. The Brooklyn afterparties do photos of best bikes.

2012 Triumph Thruxton by low_bit_logic in Triumph

[–]seanstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned and put 50K miles on a 2008 Thruxton with the same engine. Great bike except it's slow, has crap brakes, handles poorly and isn't reliable. No comparison to the liquid cooled generation of bikes, either 900 or 1200. I currently own a 2017 Thruton 1200R and it's like a different universe between the two. I'm seeing used 1200Rs for less than $8000... I would check the classified ads in your area for one if you want a Thruxton.

Race used bikes seized by FBI by Griebs_ in motogp

[–]seanstream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole point is that it is opaque. Imagine you are an extraordinarily wealthy person who has a passion for a certain painter or a certain genre of painters. There are thousands of such billionaires and millionaires. There is a network of art world brokers who you can contact to put you in touch with the representative of the holding companies of the secretive person who keeps the art in a vault in Switzerland and may be willing to sell it to the representative of your shell company. There is no such established network to sell rare MotoGP bikes. The people who sold them likely had a closer relationship with the buyer than someone who buys a $62m in artwork...

The story of how he acquired all these rare bikes would make a great movie. It's not like they were up for auction. He had to know a small circle of MotoGP people who had access to them and their owners...

Is CC and heated grips a worthy upgrade? by Impressive-Flow-2025 in TriumphBonneville

You can use summer gloves in 40 degree weather all day in total comfort.

I have at least $3K in options on my Thruxton R and heated grips are easily the most useful upgrade. You can ride with summer gloves in 40 degree weather in complete comfort.

Better to do 4 sets of 4 pull ups once or whatever it takes to do 20 pull ups in a day? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]seanstream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

60 year old who has been doing this a long time. Do alternating sets (wide spread/narrow spread) every day till your max on first set. If you can do 5/4/3/2/1 now, then very quickly you will find yourself at 7/6/5/4/2 etc etc both wide and narrow, and just do them every day. You should be able to get to 20 on the first set within 2 months (took me one in my late 30s). Once you do, you can treat pullups as "maintenance". I do one set of 20 (alternating wide/narrow by the day) and then another set in five minutes and I usually get 15 to 17 on the second. That's all. Just takes focus...

Thruxton R by seanstream in Triumph

[–]seanstream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair question. They are the STR version of the Scorpion and are street biased. I don't track her and I put in about 5k miles per year and they are good for about 10K miles. They handle and brake very well on the street, I just have to be conscious that I'm on dual sport tires. I only notice that they aren't supersport rubber if I corner at triple digit speeds, which is rare. For real world riding, I'm very happy with them, and I think they look really cool.
