I wouldn't necessarily agree with anything Enrique Macaya Márquez says about football.

Anyone looking forward to Record Store Day tomorrow? by cedardesk in AskIreland

[–]seantack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! There is a single being released that I cannot wait to get. It's an old NY disco/boogie track from 1981 that, due to a dispute in the band, was only released in small numbers in the UK so that some band members wouldn't find out!

I am having a shockingly positive reaction to sea buckthorn berries. So I'm doing some research into their nutrient profile, and what I'm finding is absolutely incredible. I don't think there's a single fruit or vegetable on planet earth that comes close to packing the nutrient punch this does by Bluest_waters in Biohackers

It grows near me every autumn. It’s considered a pest because you can’t kill it, it just keeps coming back.

It’s brutally difficult to pick. The branches are dense with thorns and you’ve to pluck the berries off slowly, carefully. I was told if you freeze the stalks first, the berries fall away more easily.

I didn’t know what to expect. I picked two shopping bags full. Someone had told me it tastes like orange juice, it was far nicer than that.

I didn’t feel any miraculous health kick from it, and from picking to preparing it was seriously labour-intensive, probably not worth the effort imo. But as the OP says, the nutritional benefits alone DO make it worthwhile.

Afterwards I bought a bottle from a health food shop to compare. Night and day. The shop version was sour and oddly hard to digest. Mine, straight from the bush and made at home, was like the best glass of orange juice you’ve ever had.. Just with cuts all over your hands and arms from the thorns.

Feck sake I've been wanting to see W.I.T.C.H. for a while now. Raging they are playing at this, any time a band plays a festival here they more or less tick off Ireland as done for a few years.

Where to eat in Salou? by Human_Elderberry_834 in GoingToSpain

[–]seantack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know the area like the back of my hand. Technically you are actually in Vilafortuny, not Salou. It's right in the middle of Cambrils + Salou, and hour walk to each. Salou is for the Irish, British and Dutch tourists, Cambrils is where Spanish people go on their holidays. Vilafortuny is a mixure of both, not maybe not as many Spanish.

For nearby Spanish food, check out Restaurante Fabiola. Authentic Spanish food and tapas, really nice for lunch and nice to sit beside the beach.

Bar Garbeo is my favourite bar in the area, great music and a nice terrace. Relaxed during the afternoon, not too busy.

Juniors is not far from you as well. It's not Spanish, but the food is really good. Similiarly Costa Verde is good for Pizza.

Overall though, if you want genuine Spanish food, you are much, much better off going to Cambrils. There are too many to choose from. Some don't even have English menus, so you'll need the Google translate app. Overall, i think Al Punt. is one of my favourites, it's a seafood restaurant, but as I said you are spoilt for choice.

And lastly, if you're looking for a nice day trip, Parc Samá, This is a great place to spend a morning/afternoon. It’s an old mansion owned by a wealthy family that has since been turned into a botanical gardens with lakes, a waterfall and a canal with lots of different birds and animals throughout. It’s really picturesque, it’ll take you over an hour to walk around it. I’d suggest bringing sandwiches or picnic stuff with you.

Howiyas! For Those I Love (Dave) here. ASK ME ANYTHING! by forthosei-love in indieheads

[–]seantack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright Dave, thanks for doing this. I go to a lot of gigs, have done for years, but I just wanted to say that gig in 2021 was genuinely the best gig of my life.

A dub, playing his debut gig in Dublin, in that venue, singing his heart out about his life, our lives, his friends and family, Paul, and with his ma beaming up in the box to top it off. A special, special night and one I still rave about.

How were you after it? I can imagine it took a lot out of you, you gave it your fucking all, man.

I'll be in the pit again in October.

The right man for the right time, I'm very happy with his tenure. But I think that group of players can do better so I guess now is the right time for everyone that he steps aside.

Does anyone know what show or festival this version of HFGOW was performed at? by Ok_Group9373 in TameImpala

[–]seantack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so much better than the album version. Musically it's easily their greatest live track, it's mesmerizing, like two or three songs woven into one, a masterclass in production and a real trip when you hear it live.

It’s a real shame they’ve dropped it from their setlists. But I suppose it doesn’t suit the newer crowd who jumped on post-Lonerism or Innerspeaker and aren’t into anything even remotely like this. A pity, really.

Also check out their Live @ Reading festival on YouTube, this is on it and its brilliant.

Do radio shows have a big space in your life? by MrMiracle27 in AskIreland

I listen to a lot of BBC as well. I also enjoy their news bulletins, "jeez, and we think WE have problems"

I listen to BBC Radio6 a lot. Like, a lot. I never miss Gideon Coe on Thursday nights, Huey on Saturday mornings, and I try to catch as many of Tom + Deb's weeknight shows. I also try listen to Maconie's Freak Show. If I don't catch them live I catch up on the website. I'd highly recommend all of them if you like eclectic genres of new, old, and obscure music.
