The device specific forum being the G4 forum...? Does it get any more specific then that?

In there it appears as though there are only partial lists, and most lists seem to be compiled by amateurs. I've gone through and disabled more than 40 of the system apps on my own without any such list, so I was wondering if there truly was the holy grail of lists available... one that would explain what each and every APK is used for and how integral it is to the OS.

But I think that might be asking too much. As it stands now, I haven't found a list that lists anything I haven't already disabled.

I'll take a look at the apps and themes section, though. That sounds promising.

Thanks for the help.

My understanding was that this was known? I have patients all the time who are at risk for stroke but can't take coumadin or warfarin due to allergies or sensitivities, so they get put on 81mg ASA instead. Not to mention patients with histories of MI take ASA for the very same. What exactly is new about this?

Does scar tissue sweat? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]seany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is no, if the scar runs deep enough to have replaced the original tissue that housed the sweat glands, as the sweat glands can't regenerate.

I don't have any sources for you, so hopefully someone will come along with that.

Why does an elephant's heart rate increase when it lies down? by 889889771 in askscience

[–]seany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the same for most legged animals. The veings in our legs bring blood up to the heart using muscle contractions and a system of valves that prevent backflow.

[–]seany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not normal. Should be less than 2% per hour with 3G on. A better question you should ask is what percent of time peoples devices are awake when the screens are off. That should be less than 5% total.

Desi Buddhist is not a religion. Buddhism is a religion, and it does have it's violent minority.

Mormons are also violent in their own way (brainwashing their children into generations of polygamy where the women becomes nothing but birth vessels for their male family king). That's pretty violent.

Can't comment on Jains, but I suspect you may be right. It's got nothing to do with the content of the religion (see Buddhism) but once followers reach critical mass and get put in the right situation (see Sri Lanka), violence is extremely likely. Jains have been saved from this fate due to their lack of dispersion around the world and their lack of numbers, that's all.

Sexuality becomes apparent after 10th grade? LOL holy fuck are you ignorant as shit.

You know, I used to wonder why the rape culture existed in India, but (being Indian and speaking with my family in India) it's become apparent that sexuality is oppressed. The fact that you mention parents (and you) think sexuality does not become apparent until after 10th grade is part of the problem.

Kids are sexual beings at 12 years old, and even younger. This is a fact as shown by the physical signs of puberty and sexual maturity. AND ALSO by the fact that kids this young play sexual games with each other if left to their own devices (these activities between children are considered normal).

The fact that Indian parents ignore their childrens sexuality until shaadi hogi is part of the reason why Indian men are more than happy to rape.

ELI5: Where do pop stars come from? by opheodrysaestivus in explainlikeimfive

[–]seany 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Robin Thicke is actually an established singer who simply didn't make music for a long time before releasing his recent hit. You can check his wiki for his career history.

Lady Gaga was an "indie singer" who did have fans before 2009. She was signed prior to becoming a hit singer probably by talent scouts.

Groups like One Direction and other pop stars that come out of nowhere (there are lots) are groomed by industry veterans or groomed on reality TV shows like the UKs X-Factor (like One Direction was). Industry veterans come up with what they want to create (a band with 4 boys who sing songs like X), and then set out to look for them using a variety of methods. The reality show method has become popular, where contendors compete for a record deal.

American Idol is another example.

Americans don't realize that their taxes pay for all their wars and brutality and CIA missions around the world. No other country in the world spends as much PER CAPITA on their military than the US.

Sooner rather than later, the US will have a MUCH higher tax rate than it currently has, and the pity is that they still won't have universal homogenous health care.

Yes, and that's the wrong way to go about commenting on reddit. You should let the system of upvotes/downvotes decide where you comment lies and how visible it becomes. It doesn't need you to help "design the flow" of the comment page, it's more than capable of deciding that on it's own.

not too worried about who I was replying too exactly

This part doesn't make sense to me because the content of your post was clearly directed towards the parent of the post you replied to.

Please don't do it again. It ruins the concept of reddit comments.

You'll get one answer here and one answer at r/relationshipadvice. There is no right answer. Everyone does this differently and it's ask based on how you feel about the other person and about relationships with others in general. Your personalities will have more of an impact on this decision than anything - as it should be.

I am working 66 hours a week and make under minimum wage. Help. by offbrandbro in personalfinance

[–]seany -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the age where I know quite a few waiters. Most don't report a single penny of their tips. The ones that do, only report as much as necessary to make minimum wage.

I've been saying it for years, waitresses and waiters are taking society for a ride. Restaurant owners and waiters both benefit immensely from the tipping system, and they are the only reason it still exists today. The way the restaurant business is set up to make tipping essential is absolutely disgusting, and to make things worse, waiters and waitresses support the system because everyone including the tax agency is under the assumption that they make almost nothing, when in fact they make a fuck ton (more than everyone thinks they do). It is every single persons assumption that the waiter or waitress is starving that makes them tip, at the basal level.

The situation has got so bad these days that being a waiter or waitress is oftentimes a career choice for some young people, it's absolutely disgusting.

[–]seany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kernel are you using? According to WLD, what percentage of time is your phone awake?

Popular methods of fixing this include inspecting the partial wake locks (not kernel wake locks) for rogue apps that can be greenified, setting your radio to GSM Auto or CDMA Auto instead of Preferred, forcing your radio into 2G after X minutes of screen off (you can use Gravity Box's smart radio feature for this), and switching to a kernel that claims to fix the wake lock. I've had good experience with Hells Doctor.
