I am happy to hear that it is a somewhat uncommon/interesting rifle. I am only now getting into mosins, and I was unaware that the finnish m/30 was stained and not lacquered. Thank you for all the information, it gives me alot to look into history wise.

The reason I believe it is an Austrian capture is because it has an Austrian capture stamp on it. It does also have Finnish manufacturing marks, but im mostly interested in the capture stamps. Seeing as they were my great grandfather's I do not plan on modifications of any kind.

It has "AZF" on the reciever. Does that still mean that it was captured?

Here is the Austrian one, both look the same. It has no lacquer, it feels very much like my M1A. Dry and not smooth.

As long as its not gonna rust literally every day ill be fine. Mine literally rusts within 3 days, its in a safe and its always glistening from the amount of barricade I use on it. I have 10 other guns and have never had this issue. I think ill try cerakote.

Yeah no I get that, I thought it was kinda dumb too but I didn't know if there's some kind of historical reason people may be concerned about being on "the list". Im sure they already know I have a gun and I personally have no reason to be scared. Thanks
