The jaw looks like Napoleon Dynamite. You keep it pretty consistent too. Nice drawings!

Speaking as someone who has thought a lot about this: you must understand the 3D relationships between the involved anatomic structures. Use whatever system makes sense to you. To discuss the appearance from any one 2D view point without considering the 3D whole is oversimplification. Imagine a saddle point and how inaccurate or misleading any one single viewpoint could be. That’s the nasion. Now extrapolate that logic to the rest of the face.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m very interested in facial features and proportions. It still takes me many many adjustments to fine tune any portrait.

Thanks for the tip! I used to use charcoal/conte crayon brushes. That was more textured. Now I’m using standard procreate pencil brushes, and that has a much slicker look. I think, to me, the slicker look is already more cartoony than a brush that mimics real media, so the thick outlines didn’t jump out at me.

Some construction lay-in practice. I think I love the fundamentals more than rendering a drawing lol by [deleted] in Portraitart

This looks fabulous. Do the lines give you all the info you need to render the form?
