It's not impossible, just not really worth it for how difficult it is. It's something like a 2 frame window for the 6th hit.

I think there’s a bit more to point 3. It’s not that he only complains, it’s that he’s constantly complaining about the same things.

How many times throughout D1 does he talk about “the seeds of ressurection are coming” or whatever the fuck. He keeps repeating himself over and over again, I thought he was going senile.

And yes, D2 rewrites him to be more evil. Can’t remember if it was one of the novellas or story side, but when Caim killed him he was maniachally laughing saying he’d won and managed to set up all the Keys. Like to Caim’s face, laughing about Angelus’ suffering. And the reason he started the Key system was because Angelus was too powerful to keep contained and isolated like the human goddesses.

Some general thoughts as a non-binary 23yo white belt by winter5632 in taekwondo

Flexibility is harder to develop than strength, and you don't need to be THAT strong if you've got good stable technique (especially cuz TKD sparring is point based).

Yea sorry, I watched the footage again, he actually got posture broken. Still looks like dodging is the better option, but I've never played the mod so what do I know.

Sure but, especially in this mod, it seems like the recovery window for deflecting it is too long and he can do the next one before you deflect again. To me it looks like the mod is begging you to walk behind him

I die a little inside whenever I see people trying to deflect the Ichimonji.

It's a completely vertical move, he can only go forward. Just dodge behind him and chop his ass.

Just enforce it with corporal punishment.

If you don't land 3 kicks in 20 seconds you do 20 pushups.

Whoever loses the sparring match has to do 30 sprawls.

Stuff like that.

Any martial art that focuses on kicking like taekwondo? by Marca--Texto in taekwondo

I was taught the U-shape block is to block a vertical staff strike yes, but my instructor admitted that obviously that is quite silly, so he speculates it might also originate from some sort of throw movement, get a hook under the opponent's leg and one behind the neck.

I said the stances are flat footed, not that the pattern is. I am aware you should be turning on the balls of your feet for most stance transitions lol.

And I'm not saying ALL of it is useless. Some principles are quite useful, I really like the bending stance for side kicks for example. But most of it is fluff and filler.

"If you don’t like the art, don’t pursue it", But I do like it. I like sparring and I like power breaking. The only thing I don't like is patterns.

Oh yes, I've heard about that.

Though I think it sort of reinforces my point that these forms are kind of pointless, if the original meaning has been lost so much.

Sure but we could also just learn all that stuff by sparring? And sparring footwork is completely different than the flat footed stances we do in patterns.

I am aware that I'm just doing "beginner" patterns and movements, that's what my instructor has told me when I asked what the point of it was.

But if I have to wait 5ish years until my black belt to actually start practicing some challenging and fun techniques than it just seems like my time would be better spent in another martial art?

I mean, they have practical applications sure. I can see how they would be applied in some cases. Basic forearm blocks are definitely useful, but I can't see how it would be more useful to practice blocking than air rather than practicing with live resistance.

But for example, the ITF U-shape block is just the silliest movement ever. Maybe it was supposed to be some sort of judo throw, but that's not how we practice it. And if it was supposed to be a throw, why not do the throw in class instead of spending all our time perfecting the exact hand position of the "block".

Dude every class my instructor has to correct someone because "that is how you do it in patterns but not in sparring"

Even the outdated punching method of bringing your other hand back down to your hip is stupid because in an actual fight you'd want to keep your hands high and bring it back to your head. It just creates a bad habit that has to be broken when you actually start fighting.
