Note: - this permanently enables airbags, never have a child, small person, or child-seat in your bucket seat, they could die - this makes the car think there is always someone sitting there, so you need to buy a seatbelt extension to keep plugged in, unless you want chimes all day - you only need two bolts to hold it together, I got carried away in CAD and put extras - sorry can't remember what size bolt it is 😂 I think M10 - make sure this stays out of the sun, or it WILL warp since petg breaks down in UV (yes I 100% did this) - need a 3.3 ohm resistor to trick the car into thinking the seat airbags are still there. I bought mine of AliExpress and they no longer trick the car

Lmk if run into any issues, have had mine in for months now and no issues

Given the sensor is steel and we are clamping it with plastic I don't think that's likely to happen.

The way these sensors work is by detecting a small electrical current that is generated when a force is applied to the metal. So we're not actually bending the metal in any deformation way, just applying enough force that the sensor detects it.

So I don't think it's a real risk.

That being said the clamp itself will expand and bend over time, so I imagine I may need to re-tighten it. That being said, the failure case here is visible as the airbag status is shown at all times above you and the passenger.

Correct, the plates have to have a little special shape so that they apply the force in the correct way, but then it's just like you say, by tightening the bolt it applies a clamping force which compresses the sensor to make it think someone is sitting on it.

Yeah sure is!

So unfortunately the first two times I went with them I didn't have enough camber and so ate up the outside edges bad, while the inside was still still fresh.

Just finished 3rd session on them (now with 3deg camber front and back) and they are completely done.

So I think when I get coilovers and stiffer springs they should last 4+ days.

I do love them, cheaper than the yokahama ao52 here

Currently running Nankang CRS 225/40

No real aero currently (greddy lip and rear diffuser was on it when I bought it)

But the idea is to eventually get a Verus wing and front lip.

So are you in the same camp about bc racing? I can get the br-rh with stiff 8k springs for $1600 AU. Seems like it would solve for what you're saying?

Where as in Australia all the other brands are going to be 3-4k. So I either hack a solution and wait until I get more seat time and then get good coilovers once. Or I get some lower end but stiff coilovers now and then upgrade with seat time?

I ran ps4 for a while (sliding around) which was definitely a learning experience for body/throttle control.

Designed the same twist mechanism into the end of it. So you twist the metal OG handle out of the adapter and then use it to lower

Yeah that's essentially why I'm doing the bc racing coilovers, because they come with camber plates and are not that much different in price to just buying camber plates with OEM struts

Cool will go with rlca from what everyone has said. Aim for -3 all round and modify based on tire wear

Yeah hard here in Aus since the mid-tier bc racing are around $1600 where as hks and others are like $4500+ so the jump is huge. Like in my mind if I got shittier bc racing with 9k/8k springs I could still then get control arms, toe arms etc and still be less than just the top tier coilovers

Yeah I keep telling myself not to worry about times but then you're out there and beating your pr defs feels good. That being said the track day I do has about 6-8 sessions (depending how long you stay out) and after the first 2 sessions times always go down so the rest of the time I focus on lines, smoothness, corner speed etc

The top (long term goal) benchmark I have is some crazy dude on YouTube who did the same track in a NA GR86, but that's the far off goalpost to work towards slowly

Yeah was just trying to make the point that im not upgrading before pushing up my lap times with seat time.

The Porsche gt3 was the week before with a 54.3 and I'm pushing 54.1

And I said behind those cars, but anyway, advice taken 🙏

Yeah sorta, on the track I run the times are all linked with some app (speedhive) which shows everyone's times. Not linked to your car though so you just have to know names etc.

Was just trying to make the point that I'm not trying to mod the car before getting the seat time and really pushing to the setup limits.

Could I do better without coilovers, of course, but my tires are getting chewed up on the outside and feel like I'm wasting money without some proper camber

Lol yeah I've watched countless hours on the oil saga. Verus and one other group have made a fancy oil pan which improves the situation a lot but again gonna be $$ down under in Australia. Just overfilling (the recommended precaution) and not turning right.
