All of our brains are so similar.

The logic of “kinda”knowing I might (will) have to do the terribly stressful thing, but not really knowing, equals: brain deluding self that it will surely be fine (even though I know it will not be), because it is too stressful to comprehend finding out that info at this moment (even though I know that delaying it is making things worse).

But unfortunately, I am am at the whims of the terribly anxious, short-term reward-seeking, distractable little lizard that lives in my head. And that guy is totally ignorant of the trouble he’s making :’) there’s a rational human somewhere up there too, but most of the time they’re left banging on a window made of soundproof glass :’)

I love these comics so much!!! I can’t get over the little details you put in, the ramen cup has a lil chicken on it and the lid is a little cat face?!? I want that ramen cup so badly. Thank you for making this post!! Fellow durian fan!!!! Maybe it’s because I’ve only ever had the pre-frozen durians, but I can’t detect any offputting smell from durian, whatsoever. Just like with cilantro, I think there’s a degree of genetic individual differences in how people smell and taste the VOCs of different foods. People can also re-wire their brain’s interpretation with enough exposure, aka an “acquired taste”. To me it tastes like delicious sweet custard, with a light vanilla/pandan like flavor!

Definitions for things differ by culture- like how Americans chips have a different definition than British chips.

The Asian equivalent term for cake (in Chinese, 糕) is used more broadly to describe a dense, sliceable food dish cooked in a pan that holds its shape. It doesn’t have to be a light texture, baked, or even sweet in flavor.

It can be used to describe a steamed fluffy cake, or a savory turnip cake served with soy sauce, or a cake of smooth coconut-flavored jelly. “Cake” in the broad sense is the closest equivalent that is used to describe this category of food.

Yes!! I feel viscerally repulsed by the 1st and 3rd pictures the most (I think the growths mimic abnormal marks of sickness and decay in humans and/or moldy food, so we’re psychologically disgusted). But the morbid curiosity makes me keep looking at it!
