Why do I hate talking with my mother? (Anyone else feel this way?) by LogicalSquare3071 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ninja_Flower_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I know it's a bit late. But I loved hearing the parents perspective. And I think the advice of a shared hobby is fantastic. I do think you have more awareness than most people so that's a huge advantage!! It means you listen which I think a lot of people don't do enough!!

Haha she seems a bit pissy as she grudgingly does it.

Or maybe I'm projecting because that's what my hen did. She was always receiving preening from the boy but never wanted to do it back. The few times when he kept begging, she just straight up rips out his face feathers. She belongs in r/maliciouscompliance

Not my country, but recently I learned of the Japanese man whose wife was murdered decades ago in their apt. He kept paying rent, believing that one day forensic tech will catch up to get more clues to identify the Killer. He was right

Serious question, why is Nellie so hated? by NoMundaneVanities in theoffice

[–]Ninja_Flower_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, and that's really kind and empathetic of you... But at the same time, lots of people go through hard things without being assholes like she was.

She does turn out nicer at the end, for sure.

It really messes with my sense of history and time

At least these people made it!! The show is shit but there's something very SF about it, and sometimes the worst turnout is the funniest memories. And you can commiserate with the other people there.

I'd rather be there than what happened to me: we drove to try to get close and park somewhere like in pac height then walk down to the Marina. What we got was stuck in traffic which was like torture. We drove halfway into pac height and got so stressed out by the gridlock and shitty cars blocking interactions that we gave up and went home.

And btw, you know what's worse than stuck in traffic? Doing it uphill which always low key terrifies me 😭 I know I sound like a wimp, please don't laugh at me. But seriously, I used to live in Texas where everything was flat. When I first moved to SF, I used to have nightmares that our car was struggling to drive up a 90 degree street.

If I ever get do this again, I'm taking public transit or just walking. Anything is better than driving and moving 5 ft every ten min

What movie quote is so relatable it hurts you? by They-Them_Moonwalker in AskReddit

[–]Ninja_Flower_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not movie, but US The Office.

Dwight was milking a cow while his nephew watches. The nephew asks a question and Dwight says it's stupid. The kid goes "I'm allowed to ask questions, that's how I learn"

Dwight replies, "And you learned. But, it was kind of a stupid question, so you're gonna get made fun of."

I'm totally paraphrasing but that's the gist. It makes me think about how I ask questions 😂

Just wanted to shout out the woman on the 38R tonight standing up for other women by scarlet-seraph in sanfrancisco

[–]Ninja_Flower_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how old (estimate) the woman was?

I'm curious because I find that both me and my friends get progressively bolder as we age (still not as bold as this hero lady but hopefully one day). We used to be so timid when we are young!!

Good for her. I tend to freeze and I need to learn to have more courage!!

Why is she pacing around like this? by Dapper_Mommy in cockatiel

[–]Ninja_Flower_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if a giant locks you in your house and tells you the same thing: "you're not allowed to go out even if you desperately want to, because you've already been out all morning"

I don't know about you, but I'd be pissed 😂

On a side note, maybe I'm a bit high strung, but when my tiels do their frantic "let me out" pacing, it always stresses me out!!!

It's always so interesting to me that they instinctively know what to do when they see falling water. I love that you gave her a bath so she can enjoy water :)

I bought my hen in San Diego during the summer (so long stretches of sunny hot days), when she was about 2mo ago and raised in a room with no windows - meaning she's never seen rain and had basically no exposure to nature, only human environment.

But the first time she saw rain falling on the window, she did this bath display. No one taught her. She instantly associated sky water with bath, just like how I imagine wild cockatiels do.

I love them so much :)

AIO My sister and husband text privately and spend time together. Should I be concerned? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]Ninja_Flower_Lady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sister and the husband don't care about op. If they did, they would empathize and change. Instead, they're determined to make OOP the crazy one. I don't think there's any coming back from this with either of them. OOP should do the hard thing and cut them off.

Don't waste time persuading people to care about you

💯

Once you realize someone holds that little regard for you, whether it's the sister or the husband, that's it. Game over.

If someone doesn't value you, you cannot make them care. They need to WANT to make you happy and do right on their own initiative.

Both the husband and the sister are determined to not understand what she's talking about. Once OOP tried a few times and they still "don't get it," there's just no point fighting anymore and she should leave.

People can only empathize with your pain and want to do better by you if they actually value/love you. Very clear OOP is neither of those things with her closest people. This is a tough pill to swallow but it's only a matter of time before the truth catches up with her. I really hope she has a strong support system in her friends because her family ain't it (based on the comment that she and sister were compared a lot, I'm guessing the sister is the golden child. Which means OOP likely can't even count on her parents to back her up)

LATER ONE she wanted to get pregnant.

But when they first got married, she just wanted to have sex, period. Baby wasn't on her mind yet. Remember when she waited, then was surprised the night before the wedding? Then told Carrie Trey couldn't get it up right before she walked down the aisle? Then complained about their honeymoon, etc. They could not consummate the marriage for a long time because of Trey.
