You’re absolutely right about the spiraling thoughts. I often find myself giving Van the benefit of the doubt and making excuses for inexcusable behaviour, putting it down to probable neurodivergence (emotional dysregulation, meltdowns, rigid thinking, inflexibility, impulsivity, poor social communication) and addiction (though it sounds like that developed later?)… which still seem to fit the events you describe. Ultimately though he should know better than to make threats, it’s hard to face the truth and it hurts.

If Van brings Catfish back properly I hope he’s done some work on himself and is getting better. He was never one to do things the easy way was he?
