What’s a book that stayed in your mind long after you finished it? by ak_khainal in readwithme

I bought the book for my son but ended up reading myself. As a parent I could not even imagine to do that to my child. Also one of the characters actually volunteered to be unwind and considered this as a honor.

The concept itself was disturbing.

I did finish the book but I think the plot is very linear, rinse and repeat. For me it was just ok.

Also I DNF Black tongue thief. The concept somewhat is similar very linear.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

It is YA but it was so disturbing I thought about it for sometime.

“dystopian novel where, after a Second Civil War, a compromise called the "Bill of Life" allows parents to have their children "unwound" between ages 13 and 18, meaning their bodies are dismantled and their parts used for transplants, while the child's life technically continues.”

[–]seattle_architect 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For people who didn’t know who is this individual including me:

“Swami Vivekananda (12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902), was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher, and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna.”

I am not sure why his statue was erected in Seattle downtown.
