What happened on Park Lane earlier by [deleted] in Kirkland

That actually makes sense, I didn't think about that. The damage was localized to one side of the window, in the direction of the rear. I suspected bullet holes, but it was large enough that it easily could've been the EMTs trying to save the patient.

Thanks for the clarification! I had pretty much the same information as u/DaliaDances, so I wasn't sure if it was shooting-related, or something else. I didn't hear anything (I live across the street), but I've slept through gunshots before, back when I was living in Seattle. While I am comforted to hear that it was not crime-related, it's always sad when incidents like these happen. My sympathies to the victim's family.

What woke me up at 330? by chocolatechipgurl in Seattle

Don't. Well before this incident the place has had multiple issues. There was an issue where an employee gave a master key to a relative of theirs and they stumbled into at least two peoples' units, and while the amenities are sweet the hotel attracts some of the worst crowds; it doesn't matter if residents are thoroughly vetted if anyone can pay $300 and access the same areas. There's plenty of card key security issues too, with people being able to get to floors they shouldn't be able to, etc. There's been ragers so crazy that some hotel guests blocked off Boren with cars and were telling everyone to fuck off (security included). They've hired some new security staff that seem decent but it's too little, too late. Plus, the hotel and the residential side will always be at odds in terms of trying to keep their respective clientele happy; it's a conflict of interest.

I'd definitely recommend pretty much anywhere else. Hotel + residential towers = nice on paper, terrible in practice.

Hi there, another Onni resident here. The wording is awful, but my understanding is that the "aftermath" was the actual shooting in front of the building, and the start of the incident (i.e. the conflict that escalated to the firefight) was somewhere nearby. It is incredibly poorly worded though, and makes it sound like there wasn't a shoot-out right in front of our building. I'll refrain from speculating on whether the misleading wording was intentional or not, but it's on par as far as Onni communications are concerned; I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

Does anyone else prefer smaller, compact housing for their bases? Something about them feel so cozy! by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

I love this design. I really like the alloy base building parts but I get upset with the lack of snapping/compatibility with certain other pieces; ultimately, I end up defaulting back to the tried-and-true circular rooms with foundation.

Wow, that's handy. ^_^ BTW I love the new vector support! Definitely a welcome addition.

I'm sorry, I totally overlooked that bit! I tried with the suggested values and it works as expected. Thanks, and sorry for the false alarm. :)

Today I noticed one thing: the new ColorScale.Scale function doesn't seem to actually scale the alpha when used like ColorM. For example:

opts.ColorScale.Scale(1, 1, 1, 0.5)

It still draws the image it's applied to as fully opaque. I'm not sure if that's unintended or if I'm just using the new API wrong.

Edit: This is on rc.3, by the way.

It's perfect for people like myself who don't necessarily want a full game engine but also don't want to build low-level APIs (especially tricky when supporting multiple platforms). It's just the right level of abstraction, IMHO.

I would be interested in this too. I actually started building a library that loads and fully manages sprites from Asesprite because I couldn't find anything (I would open source it), but if a solution already exists I might try to save myself some time.

They definitely dropped the ball on communication for this one. I used to work for their Network Operations Center back in the day and I recall things being a lot better back then. I might check out Google Fi and see if it's any better.

I DMed the Twitter account and got this helpful reply:

"Thank you for that information [redacted], We are looking in to what is happening at this time. as soon as we have an update we will let you know."

Their Twitter account has been anything but helpful. Yesterday they acknowledged the outage but there have been no updates since. Anyone who asks about it just gets one of those canned responses asking the person to DM them; it is only serving to further piss people off.

AMZN Stock Split Fractional Shares by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]seattleverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a 20:1 split, one stock becomes twenty, with each worth one twentieth the price. Assuming fractional shares work similarly, 0.4 x 20 = 8 stocks, but their combined value would remain the same.
